Should I go to Vegas under 21? |

So I have a friend who just got comped a free suite in vegas at the Hilton. There's a bunch of people going and he asked me if I wanted to go (all I have to do is pay for the plane flight). Now, there's one major problem. I'll only be 19 when I go (but i do look old ). I'll be going Labor Day Weekend so it's not a wild and busy weekend like this weekend in Vegas.
Now, I talked to a friend my age who went to Vegas and he said that he gambled without any problems. Also, keep in mind everyone that I'll be with will be over 21.
So, I have a few questions for those who have been to Vegas.
How good are my chances of NOT getting carded while there?
Since I'll probably be playng NLHE tournies, HE cash games, and black jack, does that mean I am more likely to get carded or less likely?
Is the trip worth the 250-300$ plane flight if I don't gamble?
Lastly, Are they particularly stingy on fake ID's there, and what possible reprecussions do you see arising from getting caught with something like this?
Thanks in advance for your posts.
I'll be going Labor Day Weekend so it's not

I dont know about fake IDs, but if you look of age, you will be able to gamble hassle free. Just be careful not to make a fool of yourself or draw attention. Also, you may not be able to play everywhere. I remember Treasure Island carding some people. But if you dont mind Imperial Palace/Casino Royale type places, you would have no problems.
Just carry cash, no IDs, and politely leave if asked.
BTW-any big payoff slot or poker tourney where taxes might be reported would be a MAJOR no no.

Yeah i was thinking that, you have to show ID for big tourney wins right?
Might be better to stick to ring games then?

okay as someone who use to gamble in Vegas under 21 and also worked at a Casino in Securty (foxwoods same age to play as vegas)
First dont play any turnys.
securty will normoly not bother you if u look and act the part remeber your 21.
when securty looks at you dont look away but also dont look right at them.
if u get hot leave.
Blackjack is less likely to get carded then the poker room.
slots is safest but also least likely to win with.

Not true. When I was there with Adam and Carson (we were 23, 24, 26 I believe) we got asked for ID quite a few times when sitting at Blackjack tables and none of us look under 21. This only happened in the Mirage and Venetian but apart from there, we only played in Harrah's and the Nugget where we didn't get questioned so I don't know how keen most places are to ID people. Maybe avoid the popular places if you are going to risk it and head downtown or to some of the crappier places.

the higher-end places are much more likely to card you. stick to the middle of the road (or crappier) places and you should be fine.

gino
they were trying
to run you out.
the higher end places.
Dont like Younger looking guys from what iv seen in the past.
so yah stay in the low roller areas and your set.
circus circus is the only low end place id avoide they always seemed to card more then other places probaly due to the fact that they have a much younger group then other places

I went on a cruise and won a 500 dollar black jack tournament. I was 18 at the time. But I looked like i could be a lil younger. I thought it was weird I never got carded.

Just wanted to thank everyone for your responses. And since I know you all care so much, here's what I'm planning on doing. I'm gonna go and just try to gamble with just cash in my pockets, if I get carded I'll just say that I forgot it upstairs and I'll sit that casino out and try the next.

Well I'm 22 and was just in Vegas this morning. I never got carded for gambling but I DID get carded for ordering drinks a couple of times.
One advantage you might have though...Vegas is a tourist town. As such, I can't believe that every single security and/or floor guy knows about every single state's drivers liscence. As such, I'd be willing to bet a good fake could serve you well. Not that I'm advocating, just sayin.

Vegas is probably the WORST place to use fake ID. i understand that they take it very seriously, so i highly recommend against it.

i suggest just getting a fake id.. if you do get carded take your chances with it

i've gambled underage, just be confident and if they ask your for id, say you saw on TV not to carry your wallet in vegas...
and if they still want you out, say, "mr. washington says i have id" then brace for impact as your body collides with the raw asphault

I suggest NOT doing that.
Don't carry an ID at all, or carry your real one. Vegas isn't your underage friendly 711 who checks ID's as a formality. They're alot better prepared for stunts like that. If you get caught with a fake, you can get into some minor legal trouble that'll surely ruin your weekend, not to mention a red flag by your name and face all over the city.
Fake ID's just make a bigger scene than you need.
Don't carry your wallet, only cash. If they ask you to leave, comply politely, and don't make waves.
