Fold or Raise?

Posted Mon Jul 11, 2005 11:43 am GMT by Sean_in_NJ
This discussion came up in another thread, and there's been a difference of opinion on what to do with it. Not a lot of information to go on other than it's the first blind level in an MTT, hero is UTG+2 and UTG+1 has doubled the blind.

i also think you have to raise in this situation..... somewhere between 90-120 seems about right.

Why in the hell would this be between raising and folding? I think a reasonable re-raise is pretty standard here, but calling is somewhere in the realm of A WHOLE HELLUVA LOT better than folding.

Personnaly, seeing as im probably not aggresive enough preflop i would just be calling here. Definitely wouldnt fold, because although JJ is not a great hand i wouldnt ditch it just because someone has min raised preflop!

I'd make it as much as $120-$150 to go probably.

It stems from the original thread. I could very well have included a "Call" option, but my point was to illustrate just how bad an idea folding is in this case. Even the mildly risk averse people are going to choose a raise over a fold.

I wouldn't raise either...not with my most hated hand.
CALL.
