Bad beat posts...

Posted Thu Jul 14, 2005 2:50 pm GMT by gol4pro
I've been looking down the line of threads in this forum today, and every single one of these threads has turned into a bad beat post.

Many threads have been very constructive, and we have had some good comments on them.

But if you get a bad beat layed upon you-- you didn't necessarily play the hand wrong. There's at least 5 of them, where someone bets 2/3 of the pot with a set, against some monkey with a flush draw, only to have the monkey pull his 7 outer on the river. BIG DAMN DEAL!

Everyone here is an intelligent player, so we really shouldn't be talking about this. If you made him pay for his danm flush draw, and he got lucky, then pushing all-in was not the best move (unless he would have called).

If you're going to make a bad beat post, then just do it. But hands that are "up for analysis", which are really just a bad beat post in disguise is not something we need.

I'm not sure about this, but I agree with the rest of your post.

I see your point, but I don't think we need to second-guess the motiation behind other people's posts. A player who suffered a bad beat can still have questions about whether playing the hand differently might have changed the outcome.

Threads like this one discourage people who got sucked out on, but have legitimate questions about the hand, from posting.

If you've got a legitimate question about an alternate way to play a hand--post away.

Just stuff about people getting their money in as a 4:1 fav and losing; then posting and asking us if they should have given the guy his draw for free because he wouldn't have gotten sucked out on is not the type of post we need to be reviewing.

Catch my drift?
