No. If you anted, then you could get the antes. You could only take $2 out of each blind though.

Example.

Ante: $1
BB: $20
SB $10
3 other random players who post their ante and fold.
You: $3

You post your ante, then move all-in. The max (and min) you can win here is $12 (+$9).

All In is something i dont quite undertstand....

sorry, im just beginning, but i thought that, if you dont have enough chips to call the right amount then you can put in whatever you have. i.e. if every player has put 25 in, and you only have 15. then you can put your 15 and go all in.

Does this then mean that if you win the hand, you get all the pot? Even though you haven't been able to bet on other betting rounds?

Also... when you don't have enough chips to put your blind in. Say the blind was 10, and i only have 5. Do i go all in on the 5? Does this mean that i have the chance of winning everything?

After reading some of the posts on here, this aspect has really confused me. because i was playing it, that when you go all in.. and if you had a winning hand, you would win everything. Confused Please help. Ive read a lot of the posts, but still im not quite sure.

You can only win what you can cover. That’s only fair.

Say you and another guy want to bet on a dice roll, highest number wins.

He has £500 and you have £10. You’re not going to both put your money in and the winner gets £510, that’s obviously unfair. He’ll put £490 in his pocket and put the remaing £10 down to match yours.
Result £20 pot for whoever rolls the highest number.

Then another guy comes along and wants to play. He has £100. You can still all play at once, you just have to split the bets into side pots.

Main pot £30 (3 player * £10 each).
Anyone can win.
So guy with the highest takes this.

Side pot £180 (2 player * £90 each).
Only the other two guys are eligible.
So the one of them with the highest number gets this, regardless of whether you happen to roll a higher number than them.

so if you are playing a game at home it's best to make two different piles of chips - hence the name a side pot, the first where someone is all in it is put to the side while the rest of the players can continue to bet in another pot.
