Hey -
Had a little poker gathering and need some clarification on something.
Let's say that small blinds are $10 and BB are $20. I only have $5 left. I have to go all in to play.
Here is my question. I play that I put the $5 dollars in and anyone that stays puts $5 into that pot and the other money goes into a side pot. So - the maximum amount I can win is only $5 per player in the pool. That is how I've been playing.
I had someone at the table tell me that even though I put in the $5.00 - I still have the opportunity to win the small blind and big blind as well. So let's just say it was myself, SB, and BB that stayed. I had the best hand - I could win the small blind and big blind as well???? Or - I would take $15 in chips and the best hand between SB and BB would win the rest.
Would like some clarification. Or does someone know where I could get a ruling on this.

Not the entire SB and BB. Only $5 out of each.
In other words your initial understanding was correct your sidepot pot will be made up of $5 bets from each calling player.
