Betting and Raising Question in Limit Games?

Posted Mon Jul 18, 2005 12:33 pm GMT by jacatone
If you have a 10/20 limit game the small blind would be $5 and the big $10. If your able to bet $20 after the turn are you allowed to re raise? In other words a player bets $20 can the next player bet $40? Also, how many bets and raises are allowed? Thanks.

Yes, the next player can raise $20 and make it a total of $40 for that round.

Number of raises are dependant on casino. Here is the "general" rule:

total number of 3 raises or 4 total bets each round, unlimited raises if hand is "heads up" or just 2 players in a pot.

Some exceptions:
5 bets cap on 1st round since blind is not a bet. The reasoning is 4 raises per round-since the blind is not a bet-it can be raised 4 times. In the next 3 rounds of betting, the 1st bet is, in fact, a raise, so 4 bets caps the betting

5 bet caps on each rounds

5(or 6 if it was 5) bet caps on "straddle" hands-since the straddle is not a raise
