Started playing $200 NL about a week ago. 4 times I've gone all-in.
First time was QQ on an 8 high flop. My opponent had 89o, and paired his kicker. Second time was AK vs. AJ, and he hit a runner-runner flush. Third time was the same opponent as the second time. I had AA and he check raised me on a jack high flop. I just called, planning to push the turn. Turn was a ten, I called his push, and he had JTo. And here's the 4th time:

Guess what he had? 87. 4 pushes, 4 losses, and 3 times I had the best of it when the money went in the middle. I know if I keep getting my money in in these situations, I'll eventually make huge profits, but I don't know if I can stand the variance.

I think you could have saved yourself the bad beat had you re-raised pre-flop. You would have most likely taken down the pot right there.

It's certainly not the best way to start your poker career. I'm sorry about your luck. As Phil Hellmuth said, "If there was no luck in poker I'd win every time." Unfortunately, luck is a big factor in poker. I seem to have the same luck in online play, so I've quit playing online and I'm sticking to home games and casino play. I can't play as often as I like, but my bankroll is thanking me for cutting off the online play.
If you're getting your money in with the best hand every time, odds are you're going to win eventually. Don't give up. The poker gods will smile on you eventually.
