Got cable the other day - alas it doesn't have the Poker Channel but I have seen a few things on Challenge.
WTF is Celebrity Poker all about? What a car crash that is... I did worry that these programmes would educate people about poker and make them better players - but now I realise that they only add to the aquarium.
Watched PartyPoker Poker den which is odd. Good to see a cash game being played - but the graphics and format are weird - and wtf are they playing with cash and not chips?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I think cash is supposed to look more exciting/sexy on the table, although IMHO chips look better. When I see cash I just think “if you were serious about the game you would have invested in some chips”.
For anyone who doesn’t have satellite or cable:

Yeah - it just looks scruffy and you can't really work out how much people have or what's in the pot.

Indeed. It’s impractical and just lacks class I think
I mean it’s better than playing with matchsticks but it still reminds me of the days when I played with 1p and 2p coins :D The players are just better off.

surely this is a good thing though that people could be learning to play poker by watching programs like this?

Correct - this just adds to the fish barrel (or aquarium, since you prefer this term). I still love those who play NL at a full table and treat it like the FT in a WPT tournament, shorthanded mind you. Maybe one day they'll realize that the 1-hour FT on television is really about 7 hours of actual play, with action hands being shown. Or then again, I hope they don't ... Ax is a good hand UTG, right??

I'll probably get ripped to pieces for saying this... but I really don't mind Celebrity Poker, when they have interesting people on there. Its good for a laugh.
