Tournament Heads Up hand.

Ok, so you're in a tournament and made it to heads up. Blinds are 150/300 with a $50 ante. You have about 19000 chips and villian has about 37000 chips.

You get A Diamond 3 Club on the button. You raise to 700 and he calls.

Flop comes 6 Heart 5 Diamond 4 Diamond
He checks, you bet 700, he raises to 1700, you call.

Turn A Spade
He bets 2000, you raise to 5000, and he pushes,
you....?

Go with it, even though you may be drawing dead. Top pair and an open-ended str8 draw is nothing to sneeze at heads up.

Yep. Call it. This is a great chance to double up. If you lose it... thats fate.

Why do you call it? The guy is telling you the ace doesn't bother him at all, so either he's got an ace and has you outkicked or he's got an ace beat. In either case I'm not liking the situation.

I don't call either. Sure, almost half of your chips are in the pot already, but there are a ton of hands that beat yours. I guess it really depends on the payout though. If its winner take all or a hefty percentage I definitly fold, but if its pretty close money either way I don't mind gambling here.

Here's my read on the situation.

First, your 700 bet after the flop would indicate to me that you didn't pair. That's just what a lot of people do. Bet the same on the flop as they did pre-flop when they don't pair or are fishing. This is probably why he check raised you expecting you to fold. At least if pays attention to typical betting patterns online.

When the Ace came and he came out swinging I think he wanted to represent the Ace didn't give you credit for it because of your action on the flop. The odds heads up that both of you have an ace are not that big when two that you know of are already in play. So if I were you I would have called. Chances are he either had two high cards or paired the board or with the check raise he may be holding a medium pair. Either way odds are that you have him beat.

the hands you're beating are flush draw, 77-KK played crazy-like, or a bluff.

I don't bet the flop and I don't raise the turn. I have possibly the best hand on either street so no need to risk more chips when you've got position on the chip leader.

River is a fold on a blank.

or if you want to go all crazy Vietnamese style. Push the flop and type, "ALL YOU CAN EAT BABY!!!"

tough situation ... if you fold here you're down 5 to 1 in chips ... bad news is you could be drawing dead right now and not know it ...

id either push or call on the turn here ... if you raise things get messy and you'll be potstuck or you'll probably almost lose the heads up by 'default', but if you call and the river looks ugly, you may have enough chips to give it a go still

Tough situation, but I'm calling it.

He is likely representing an Ace or thinks your bluffing. If he isn't, well, there's always your straight draw.

If this is online, I just don't think you can read him well enough to lay it down. Most heads up play is big reraises and alot of pushing, so it doesn't surprise me that's what he did.

He might have it, he might not. Alot of betting style and reading that's difficult to do would be the only thing to convince me to lay it down.

I've been wondering about this hand for awhile, I thought it was kinda fishy, but I guess most people here make that call.

Turns out villain had 73o and wins the WSOP 8)

ha... good one Laughing

i have even watched the vid of this a few times and also read about it a fair amount of times now!!

do you call the raise with the 73o though? i thought this was a little strange... or was it a good move? well, obviously it worked out but you get what i mean.

Still doesn't change a thing.

In the long run you'll win. In the short run it made one guy 7.5million. Of course flopping a straight with 73o is pretty much as close to a wet dream as most will come (no pun intended) because everyone thinks you have something different.
