Anybody Read This One?

The Professor, The Banker, and the Suicide King. This is not a how to or strategy poker book, but it is supposedly a true story about this rich banker guy who decides he wants to play the best of the best, i.e. Howard Lederer among others. I've been thinking about checking it out, but haven't got around to it yet. I was curious if anyone has read it?

Yeah, someone was saying something about it before, it's supposed to be a REALLY good book.

Yes, there was a thread about it a month or so ago.

I bought it from Amazon on the poster's recommendation & was REALLY glad I did.

The book is a great read. I highly recommend it.

No poker strategy, but a great story.

I just bought a book on Stu Unger - look forward to reading it.

Also just got the Harrington 2 volume set. Just started reading the first volume last night. Seems to be a great book so far.

Harrington's first book was great... I haven't read part 2 yet.

I read The Professor, the Banker, and The Suicide King. I also started the original thread about it in the General Poker Area if you wanna run a search for that thread. I thought it was fantastic. I also have 2 friends who've now read it (it took each of us only 2 days to read it since it was such an entralling book) and they both agree.

Great entertaining read and it'll leave you wanting more. It's def. worth the 25 bucks or whatever it costs.

Just so you know the basic plot, it's about Andy Beal, a rich Texas banker, who comes to Vegas and wants to play the pros at limits they've never played before. No one individually can field the kind of cash he wants to play for so they make a TEAM of sorts. They pool their money and take turns playing him in Limit Holdem, heads up, for as much as 25,000-50,000.

A true story, I take it? I gotta get this one.

If you still need it... I think this describes the book:
"If you’re looking for a book on poker strategy, keep looking. This one is not it. If the idea of a billionaire going on kamikaze runs to Vegas, and challenging the worlds best poker players to ridiculously high stakes games, sounds interesting to you, this is your book." (took it from - http://www.launchpoker.com/books/beginner/-professor-the-banker-and-the-suicide-king-inside-the-richest-poker-game-of-all-time-/)
And I think it's just entertaining to read it.

I finally got around to ordering it the other day. It should be here sometime this week. Can't wait to check it out.

Yeah, I posted about a week ago. Basically, it ends up that the biggest game in history happened on May 12, 2004. Heads Up, $100,000/$200,000 fixed limit hold 'em. Read it to see what happened.

It is a very true story and one of the best books I have had the pleasure of reading. It involves some of pokers biggest names and one cool rich dude.

Just a follow-up. I finished the book yesterday, and it was very good.
