Just kind of wondering . . . who here regards poker winnings as part of their study income? Does anybody here win steadily enough to regard this as part or full time employment?

If playing from 9 at night to 5 in the morning then yes. Sometimes ill play online for that period of time.
And i can't past the IRS backround check either

i dont play 9-5 but i do play a lot, and i consider a form of supplemental income. im a college student and working part time at the bank isnt cutting it. i actually make more per hour playing poker than i do at work (13/hr)

I dont make a killing but on a good day i make about $25-50 an hour in a low buy in tourney with friends.

Nope. I play poker for fun. I pay for my gambling (i.e. poker and the ponies) with money that I make by doing online surveys (which I usually do while I'm at work so I'm getting double paid for my time  ). I like what I do for a living and I'm afraid that I'd really get bored with poker if it became a job instead of a hobby. I bet Tiger Woods has days that he doesn't want to play golf, but he has to because it's his job. I don't want poker to turn out that way for me. If I feel like playing, I do. If I don't (yes, this has happened......once) then I do something else like go fishing or golfing (weather permitting), read a book, watch a movie or play some other PC game.

poker aint my day job, it's more of a hobby that pays well.
I couldn't live off the profits i make right now, sometimes i make $150 a day, sometimes i make $0 for a couple days (or lose even  )
mostly tho, when i dont make some silly mistake or dont lose to someone elses silly mistake getting lucky, i think i play pretty well. (over the weekend i played 6 hours and made $250  )
So at some point (and i think it will be sooner rather than later) i think i will make the jump to solely playing poker for income.
(and yes i will still take time out to play golf etc, thats the benifit of being self employed  )

Howdy all!!! I figure Ill put my thoughts in here... My new wife gets frustrated at me when she goes to work and works hard she says being the night manager at a juice factory. She gets home and says so honey how was poker? I say fine sweetheart and I tell her my winnings, atleast most nights hehehehe we cant have them all right, and she is shocked i made more sitting here doing something I love than she did working her job. Id really be playing this thing pro if it wasnt for about 3 things. 1 a bankroll I wouldnt have to worry about all the time, something large enough to cover swings and when I win I can cash that out and not have to put a part into the roll to keep it healthy. Second, health benefits as a poker player arent exactly premium at the moment, write your congressman lol!!!!  Third, she worries about me losing my bankroll and leaving us hung out to dry, I love her more than life itself and I only want the best for her and poker may not be it right this moment, but Id like to think I can move to playing full time.
As for 9-5. I never have and never will be a guy who can goto a job at the same place for the same hours and not debate the meaning of it all. I cant stand routine in many forms, so 9-5 is like my own personal hell. Id much rather take 3-4 days playing poker non-stop and then live the rest of the week a happy man, but heck dreams are good right???

i wish i could... i just dont have the bankroll to even get started. I'd like to hope that the higher limit tables would offer less of that "oh, look, my 72o/s takes down your AA at the river" crap.

most poker professionals make about 20 bucks an hour*. Of course not the one you hear about, but that's the tip of the tip of the tip of the ice burg if you know what I mean. There are so thousands of other guys who make a living you will never hear of.
