So im at a 14 person tournament, 1000 starting chips, two tables of 7, top 4 from each table advance to an 8 person final table. My table is down to 5, im sitting with about 2000 chips in probably about 3rd chip position. There are two others at the table with under 1k chips.
I'm dealt K 10 in early position, I simply call. Big blind checks it. Flop comes A Q J . BB bets 400. I size up the situation, and think to myself either I have to move all in here (in the case that he has one spade and is drawing to a flush) or fold (simply calling to see a turn would be foolish since if its a spade I've just handed him 400 chips and cant call another bet.)
Now the guy I am playing against was loose-agressive. He had folded maybe 3 or 4 starting hands all night thus far, he liked to see lots of flops. He also liked to bluff, he would show bluffs and talk about he hadnt had a pair all night. Given this, I thought it was unlikely he had two spades, the only cards that could beat me. Also, I figured that since I would most likely be advancing to the final table soon, I would be better off taking the chance to double up here and be in solid chip position for the final table, than trying to battle it out on a short stack. The only thing that made me hesitate going all in was his body language; he looked way too comfortable. He didnt seem nervous at all. Despite this first instinct, I moved all in. He flips over 9 3 and takes me out.
Now the question is, did I play this right? Should I have just laid it down?

It's really dependent on your read of him and your general feel of the situation. You said that he looked pretty comfortable after betting, so that would be sending me some red flags that he has at least a real strong draw, but more likely the made flush.
Speaking strictly outside of that, you had very little invested in this hand, and as you said you had a decent sized stack, so I'd be hesitant to risk everything when I could be drawing dead. With two people under 1000 in chips, I lean towards a fold if I'm looking to get to the final table and start fresh from there.
I've read it on here and heard it many times....don't go broke in an unraised pot.
Also, if you're going to play this hand at all at a 5 person table, probably play it for a raise, even in EP.

i think THAT is very flawed thinking sir. If i were playing against a LAG, i would actually think it was MORE likely that he is holding two spades since he will likely play any two suited cards. Of course you can't immediately put him on this.
You can play this two ways, one way is to play for value and put out a nice bet there and see what he does with this. If he really is LAG, and he smooth calls, I would get very worried and check the turn, ESPECIALLY if its a spade. Even though he may be drawing for a spade, if he does have two spades, you could easily go broke here.
The other way is to be very passive about it, and check-call to the river if his bets are small enough, so that you can maybe get a cheap showdown.
IMO either way, you should try to show the table your cards if you want to develop an image of a solid player.
