I was considering moving up but this didn’t help

I entered a £10+£1 SnG last night after having some consistent success with the £5 ones.
I’d been doing alright, my very first hand I pick up 77 in EP. I limp with 4 others, the flop comes 456 ranbow, I bet 2/3 pot and pick it up.
Immediately after I’m dealt AA UTG, I raise 4xBB (expect just to pick up the blinds) it folds around to the button who raises all-in, I call, he turns over QJo and doesn’t improve Smile
After the first 6 hands I manage to build my 1000 up to 3400 and then just sit tight winning the rare pots I enter with premium cards.

I start telling my gf how I should be able to wait it out into the money from here. She doesn’t like how much I play.

Blinds are up to 100-200.
I pick up KHeart5Heart in the BB.
Folds around to the button who limps, SB calls.
Flop 2Heart 3Heart 6Heart
I bet out 400
Button raises to 1100 all-in
SB folds
I call

He turns over AHeart5Club

Turn Blank
River 9Heart

------------------------------------

Blinds 300-600
4 players left
I’m in the BB with JTo
1 limper, SB folds.
Flop AT5 rainbow
I bet 1200
Opponent raises to 2900 all-in
I’ve got 1500 left, I deliberate for a while then call.
On reflection I’m unsure about this move when I was so close to the money
He turns over Q5o
Turn Q
River no help

I was so annoyed to be chip leader for 80% of the game and then lose it all so close to the money. The worst part was telling my gf after I was so confident about my position, I just wanted to kick myself.

That first one was a fair enough call. He limped in when you would expect him to raise with an Ace on the button. Difficult to put him on the Ace - and in the end you were right to call as you were still ahead. Not that bad a beat though as he had a reasonable shot at a heart over two cards.

The second one is a grim one. I think you got pot committed to the wrong pot. No reason not to put the limper on a mediocre Ace. It's short handed so people are going to only get into pots with at least one big card. I would have laid that down. In the end you were right, but got unlucky. Personally I don't mind raising with second best, but I don't like calling with it.

I see what you mean Idaho. I considered the first one a bad beat, not just because I was ahead, but because the hands he needed to have to even have a shot at outdraw me were so unlikely.

I’m really starting to dislike the second.
I think the problem was the flop bet. The size was correct as a percentage of the pot, considering the hand and that it was heads up, but as you said he did leave me over committed because it was just too large in relation to my stack.

F**k f**k f**k I can’t believe I’m still on tilt from this game now! I just can’t get rid of the feeling that I blew an easy shot at the money....probably because I did.

first is actually an interesting play by the button ... he knows you dont have the nut flush so theres a chance you'll fold but if you call, he still has a 35% chance to win ... he has to guess that you'll fold at least 50% of the time to be +EV here

2nd one ... big yuck, lol

i had a guy call off half his chip stack to my raise with bottom pair to my middle pair, only to catch trips on the turn and double up
