Hey all
Wondering if anyone else uses Texas Calculatem ??
Just got it, seems pretty good. Automatically calculates your number of outs, win %, pair %, flush%, staight % etc etc. Calculates the probability of you winning the hand on the flop, turn, river.
Also gives you a recommendation to raise, call, fold etc based on hand strength. You can change the settings so it is tight, average or loose preflop. And can change whether it is tight, average or loose post flop.
I don't really pay much attention to the recommendation part of it, as it doesn't take into account specifics of other players and how tight/loose the table is etc etc. But found the calculations very handy.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Does it work with any of the popular online sites or do you have to manually plug in your hand and the board?

Well it uses autoread that works with almost all the big sites, PartyPoker, Pokerstars, FT etc 50+ altogether.
No you don't have to tell it anything, other than what seat u are sitting in at the beginning. If ur playing a tourney you have to restart it every time you get moved to another table if you are in a different seat.
I am quite impressed with this, would definitely recommend for people new to the game like myself.

I prefer to work out the odds myself. It doesn't take long at all when you get used to it. I doubt I can run much else anyway when I am playing 4 tab;es with PT running.

Seems like to much of a crutch to me.
If you are starting out, you want to be able to learn from experience to make the right decisions, depending on the circumstances. If someone is only using some program to tell them what to do, they will never really learn that.
Then, why they move to a higher level, they'll get crushed by players who play less straightforwardly.

I agree. I use online games as practice for casino games for calculating odds.

i saw this software and thought "wow thats a great way to get yourself into a cookie cutter style" ... i would definetly not reccomend it, but i suppose it has its uses to very new players, but i think you can learn just as much by watching ESPN

Yeah, I heard about people running pokertracker or pokeredge getting their accounts locked. Is calculatem on the same banned list?

As I've understood it, it's only poker edge that the sites are cracking down on.

Why? And do you use any of them?

i think the problem lies with how these programs get used rather than the fact that they exisit. if you want to import hand histories AFTER you have finished playing to study the holes in your game, i wouldn't have a problem with that at all. i love stats. i don't agree with being able to dowload histories of all the people at your table and having the program analyze them for you during play. i also don't think you should be allowed to have software calculate your odds/out for you. call me old school, but i believe that you should learn to do this for yourself.
