What is the rule of thumb for showing your cards. Say that all cards have been dealt and you raise you have callers and it's time to show what ya got. I was under the impression that if you call you must show your cards.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

All callers that do not fold to the last bet are required to show their cards. Poker etiquette allows players with losing cards to throw their hands away without exposing.
You can ask to see these hands, but it is generally frowned upon.

I was under the impression that only the player who was called hand to show. After that, you only have to show you hand if you have him beat.

To clarify:
The last person to take aggressive action (bet, raise, or reraise) must show their hand first.
After that, players show their hands in clockwise order. HOWEVER, a player who realizes they have lost has the option to just muck their hand instead of showing. This is just etiquette and any player can ask to see the mucked hand if they so choose. Most online poker sites will allow you to look up mucked hands.
