Observing a game

Was watching some 5/10 $1k NL before I went to work today. Players were playing pretty loose and agressive, so it was kind of interesting to watch.

UTG bets 35, next to act rasies to 200 (800 stack), Next guys calls (Interesting.... A 200 bet usually would be put all in or folded around), UTG folds.

Flop comes 788.

Guy puts his last 600 in.

The other guy has about 1700 and thinks about it & then calls.

First better shows 44.
Caller shows A9.

WTF?

44 is playing that hand very agressive....

A9? What did he possibly think he had beat here? What kind of hand would bet 200 pre flop & then go all in on the flop and not have A9 beat?

Turn is an Ace.

Not sure anyone deserved that pot. Full Tilt should have just taken a $2000 rake and called it a day.

I can agree wholeheartedly with this statement...

This is probably what the guy with 4s was thinking. Seeing a flop like this probably told him the 4s were good, since there wasn't a reraise preflop. Big overs would (should) lay down with this 788 flop.

Funny, I would have put the $200 caller on pocket pair, most likely overpair..maybe even AA, although I agree with 1988 that not re-raising all-in was a strange move. It really is sick some times the type of plays that get rewarded. Even though pocket 4's didn't have much of a hand, he at least had SOMETHING! To give the A9 an Ace on the turn was just WRONG!

i don't know what the guy with A9 could possibly have been thinking with that call. he had to know he was behind, if he didn't maybe poker isn't his game. Shocked

Well his name was imindebt LOL

He got up to 2800 on the above hand & then later had about 900. Maybe poker isn't his game afterall.
