funniest poker experience EVER!

okay, so a group of me and my friends are playing some NL hold 'em with a buy in of $20. we're playing over the night and i'm about equal chip leader with one of my other mates. one of my friends was dealing, and he's quite a shifty kid, its known that him and another friend of mine, who wasn't playing, cheat together (give eachother chips, mainly), it pisses us off, but he's a bit of a dick and has a short fuse, so we let it slip. he's the kind of guy who thinks he's crash hot at poker, when he really isn't, he just gets lucky a bit, and cheats whenever possible...so anyway.

he's dealing and i get dealt Q3 off suit. nobody raises pre-flop, so i get a free glance. the flop comes Qd, 3h, Jd. so i start raising it and whatever, and soon enough its just me and my cheating friend heads up. so the turn comes and its another diamond... donno what card. but it was a diamond, some more betting went on and what not.

then this is where the story starts getting shifty... theres a bit of a distraction at the table... people are arguing about music or something, and i get involved for a few seconds then go back to the game, and my cheating friend says "oh...have i burnt a card?" and i was like "uh...i guess.." now this seemed REALLY suss... its hard to explain, but it just spelt out "i've rigged the next card." so i was a bit iffy till the river came... it was 3d. he came out firing, of course i also came over his raises and vice-versa... around $40 in the pot. he flips over his whole cards and he's got the Ace of diamonds. i happily flip over my full house....

HE HIT THE ROOF! started throwing insults at me and all this other crap. i just sat their laughing while i raked in all my chips. a few hands later he was out of the game.

i discussed this with my other friends afterwards and they agree that he had rigged the river. turns out one of the other players saw he was sneaking a look at the river/turn's all through the night.

the down side to all this is that he walked out of the house when he lost and didn't put his money down. he claims he put it on the table at the start of the game, but nobody saw him do it and nobody saw the money. he's a liar and a dirty cheat. i'm no longer friends with him, and nobody trusts him at the table anymore..nor will he be allowed to deal... but i am playing poker against him this saturday... should be a blast. Laughing Wink

If you're no longer friends with him, i personally wouldn't hold back and not allow him to play poker with you and your homies.

Even if the game is light-hearted or low stakes, if there is unsportsmanlike behaviour i'd put my foot down for sure. It makes the game more fun without these type of guys (and galls) out.

Best way to deal with someone like that is to wait for a solid hand either AK, AQ or a high pocket pair. Limp in then mini-bet/raise the flop. Do the same on the turn. Then on the river throw a drink in his eyes and punch him in the throat. You can make your move on the flop or turn if he re-raises.

I trust all of my mates but we still always toss our buy-in’s into my chip case and count them before we start, then close it until the game ends.

I say you nail his wife.

yep always get all money in before the first hand is dealt unless someone vouch for that person who doesn't have the money that he'll pay up. we say if you turn up to our next game without the money then you ain't playing. i generally don't have the cash but as i own the chips it's sweet as i know i can pay next time for the winner.
as for cheating if your gonna do it at least rig it so you win! make sure you have someone else who you can trust to watch the game and be sure that you explain that if you are caught cheating don't expect to be given any of your winnings. my advice would be to rig a game yourself just get the whole table in on it and see how he likes it.

Then complain how bad she was to everyone at the table.

Advice. Don’t let anyone place burn cards or mucked cards on the bottom of the deck until the hand is over.

Yes, I also have had the unfortuante experience of playing with someone who would "peek" at the next few cards in the deck. The first couple times we played I was the only one that caught on, but after a few games my buddies caught on and banned him for life.

You need k-rug justice.

Seriously though, why do you guys continue to let him play? I assume it isn't your house? If a group of guys considers one guy a cheat then you need to have the guy who organizes it say something. If he's peeking at cards tell him to just slide the cards off the deck and not pick them up. You can say it and be direct without being confrontational. But unless he's 6'4" 300lbs usually hot headed pricks can be put in their place by the organizer stepping up and growing some balls. Even if it has to get heated he has your groups support. What is he going to do? Kick all your asses? Even he isn't that dumb.

they aren't mormons. They don't get married when they're 17.

I play with a couple guys who after the hand always rabbit hunt and if you win the hand and its their deal they sneak a peek at what you tossed very sneaky like hoping you cant tell so they can try to see what you play.
I caught them doing it in a small low limit game so it was no big thing.
We cleaned them out but we have a big game planned for this Saturday and if we catch them this time we are calling them on it.

Just about the funniest thing I've read on this forum! NICE!

a group of us are gonna hit him with a rigged deck... something he'll go all in on. and if he cheats again, i can tell you nobody will want to play against him again.

but you see, he can keep denying that he cheated and that he walked out the door without putting his money on the table, and theres nothing we can really do about it... except get him back by breaking his knee caps.

probably the best advice i've ever seen given to anyone. from now on this is my solution to everything.

I have a standing policy at any home game I'm in - you put a hand on someone for no reason, I break the arm at the elbow.

I give one warning, and it's "Boys, I don't care for violence. It makes me jumpy. We don't want to see me jumpy, do we?"

I'd have had my 20 bucks out of that guy before he sat back down at another game, and I'd start a policy that he was off the books from then on - he pays for his chips before he gets them.

And then, I'd beat him till he drooled blood if I caught him cheating.

Seems like it would be fairly easy to prove whether he paid or not by simply counting the money...

Posted Fri Jan 06, 2006 11:36 am GMT by galderon
I'm confused. Let me get this straight. He cheats whenever possible and when he loses, he doesn't pay. Why would you ever play with this guy? If my choices were to play this kind of game or not play at all, I wouldn't play at all. Rolling Eyes

There are 3 types of people in this world that I despise....a cheat, a thief and a liar. This guy is all three of those. I would have nothing to do with him EVER. I'm not just talking playing poker with him, but I wouldn't want to be associated with him at all.
Bad form.
Funny story though. You know what they say, "cheaters never win."
