There oughta be a law...

Ok,

I'm in a satellite tourney that cost $26 to play and there were about 35 players. The top 3 get a $200 buy-in and 4th place gets $94.

I've played it pretty well to get to the top 6. I suffer a minor setback when I have 5500 chips and end up heads-up pre-flop against the guy with 2nd smallest stack of 3660. Blinds were $250/500 and I'm dealt pocket 9's versus his AK all-in preflop. Guy rivers an Ace which doesn't really matter because we were all-in, but it sucks to see it on the final card.

So, I'm down to about 2K and am in survival mode. I steal some blinds with so-so hands and survive a couple more rounds and see it go down to 5 of us, so I'm on the bubble now. That's when the following hand occurs:

There really ought to be a law against this type of win:

FullTiltPoker Game #193589614: $24 + $2 / Token Satellite (1146514), Table 1 - 250/500 Ante 50 - No Limit Hold'em - 23:48:34 ET - 2005/08/22

Not sure he's saying it makes anyone a better player. Just a funny hand... Sucks when you have the same exact hand all in pre flop & a flush happens. Kind of like AA vs AA and someone hits a flush....

Just not fun is all. Crying

You can't really accept sarcastic apologies. It's like a BJ from Ellen Degeneres...not real.

You may know her sit com, Ellen. Was on Ch4 before they discovered Will & Grace.

And yeah pooch, that hurts, kinda sucky call/call from him preflop too, the flush notwithstanding he had to be thinking he was doubling up anything other than an outright bluff, and even that wouldn't have been too far behind A3.

I'm not sure I want to be the one to do this, but I'll stick my neck out and say that I find Ellen to be very funny. It takes talent to be funny without using foul language. However, on the flip side (and this is waaaaay off topic), I practically died laughing while watching the movie The Aristocrats. (not to be mistaken with the Disney cartoon the Aristocats.) If any of you get a chance and have a stomach for the crudest of crude, you will love The Aristocrats.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying she's horrible. but i would hardly call her a "great" comedian. sure, she has some good stuff. if she didn't she wouldn't have lasted this long. i would classify her as a "solid but not spectacular" comedian. of course, that's just my opinion. i'm sure you're not the only one who disagrees with me on this.

Wow, way to put yourself out there on the whole Ellen thing. Way too much info.

Tony - you should know by now that we never (ever, ever) disagree on this board ... it always reaches a point where we sit together, decide upon one joint opinion, and sing kumbaya (while holding hands, of course).

She had me rolling during her standup. I tried not to like it, but she sucked me in.

I agree. Comedians who don't have any good material never last very long or become well known.

Funnily enough I’ve only ever seen AA vs AA once in a cheap beginners tourney, one guy laughed and wanted to just split the pot back straight away but the dealer said they had to complete the hand.
Chuckles lost to a flush.

Ellen’s sexuality was famous for being the worst kept secret in Hollywood. But I found her coming out episode was quite funny.

Ellen Degeneres is a comedian??? I thought she was just famous for being a lesbian. On a side note, I watched a buddy of mine go all in with A Ks against some other guy who had A Ko and my friend flopped a flush--ouch.
