I played in my first SNG at Harrah's in AC last night. $40 + $10 buy-in, which is a pretty high rake, but it seemed about par for the B&M course.
Anyway, the blinds start at 5/15 and go up every 15 minutes (15/30, 25/50, etc.) This would'nt be too bad except you get only 350 tournament chips!
Are they serious?
And to think I used to let Party's 800 starting chips annoy me....

That is the worst tournament structure I've ever heard of.

same structure at Mirage satalites for their $300 buy in NL tourney. Except they might have had 10 minutes rounds.

Obviously no one here has ever played in Florida. Most SNG's are $32 + $13 with 25/50 blinds that go up every 10 minutes with 800 starting chips. I challenge someone to find a worse setup than this.

$32+$13 is obscene, I would never play that!

Wow! I'll stop complaining now.

I think the real problem is that bricks and mortar card rooms have a point of inflection where they just can’t support low stakes games because the floor space can be filled with something more profitable.
Do they have these same crazy rake ratios for £100 games and up?
I used to play in Bristol before they replaced their entire card room with blackjack tables Although I’ve heard they changed it back again since the poker renaissance.
