Post your favourite recent hand

Posted Tue Aug 23, 2005 5:00 pm GMT by mugged_off
Hey

Instead of posting a hand to be critiqued, post a recent hand you've really enjoyed playing. One that gave you a buzz and you felt you couldn't have played better.

Cheers.

I call this hand "Lucky" because that's what my opponent said once we were both all-in. Don't think he was expecting me to have the hand I did, for whatever reason. I think I telegraphed it well enough... but I'll still take the win.

Last two players in a SnG where I'd hit 2 full houses several, sets and a couple straights (no flushes, though) and was generally untouchable. Just catching cards every othertime I'd see the flop, it seemed. People got wiped out of this tournament quicker than most, so the blinds weren't ever a big factor in decisions.

The buzz I felt was the "will he call it?" variety, and not really the type where I felt particularly tricky. He seemed like he was getting used to my milking strategies, so I decided to try and be a little more blunt and see what the effect would be. Turned out with a positive result. Anyway, enough with the lead up... on to the hand!

I actually really enjoyed this tournament (particularly because I won it), so I'm gonna take the opportunity to share some of the highlights.

This hand is still heads-up, but it's an example of me milking my opponent. He wised up in time to save his stack, but I'm happy with the number of calls I got out of him:

Seat 4: Tadzio Q Heart Q Spade ($8,520 in chips)
Seat 5: danieltacama ($6,480 in chips)
ANTES/BLINDS
Tadzio posts blind ($50), danieltacama posts blind ($100).

PRE-FLOP
Tadzio bets $250, danieltacama calls $200.

FLOP board cards K Heart A Club Q Club
danieltacama checks, Tadzio bets $200, danieltacama bets $400, Tadzio bets $1,200, danieltacama calls $1,000.

TURN board cards K Heart A Club Q Club 5 Spade
danieltacama checks, Tadzio bets $1,000, danieltacama calls $1,000.

RIVER board cards K Heart A Club Q Club 5 Spade 8 Heart
danieltacama checks, Tadzio bets $4,100, danieltacama folds.

SHOWDOWN
Tadzio wins $9,500.
SUMMARY
Dealer: Tadzio
Pot: $9,500
Tadzio, bets $6,800, collects $9,500, net $2,700
danieltacama, loses $2,700

The final hand I want to share is earlier in the SnG. This was my second major showdown of the SnG and I wanted it to really impress the others player so my bluffs would stick better later (I like to bluff with half-pot and min-raise bets when I can... takes a good table image to convince others these small bets are milking strategies rather than weak bluffs, so I work early to set up that image). The guy was super aggressive, so I thought I'd let him do most of the betting. Anyway, dunno if it's super impressive, but I liked how it turned out.

Seat 4: Tadzio 7 Spade A Club ($4,160 in chips)
Seat 5: danieltacama ($1,245 in chips)
Seat 6: CPA-OHIO ($1,135 in chips)
Seat 9: top calibre ($2,725 in chips)
Seat 10: LiTtObOyPnOy ($5,735 in chips)
ANTES/BLINDS
LiTtObOyPnOy posts blind ($15), Tadzio posts blind ($30).

PRE-FLOP
danieltacama folds, CPA-OHIO folds, top calibre folds, LiTtObOyPnOy calls $15, Tadzio checks.

FLOP board cards 2 Spade 7 Heart A Diamond
LiTtObOyPnOy bets $30, Tadzio bets $60, LiTtObOyPnOy calls $30.

TURN board cards 2 Spade 7 Heart A Diamond 7 Club
LiTtObOyPnOy bets $60, (I waited 30 seconds here) Tadzio calls $60.

RIVER board cards 2 Spade 7 Heart A Diamond 7 Club 4 Diamond
LiTtObOyPnOy bets $3,300, Tadzio bets $4,010 and is all-in, LiTtObOyPnOy calls $710.

SHOWDOWN
Tadzio shows 7 Spade A Club
LiTtObOyPnOy shows 3 Spade 5 Club
Tadzio wins $8,320.
SUMMARY
Dealer: top calibre
Pot: $8,320
Tadzio, bets $4,160, collects $8,320, net $4,160
danieltacama, loses $0
CPA-OHIO, loses $0
top calibre, loses $0
LiTtObOyPnOy, loses $4,160

....And that's the story of my last SnG.

Prolly when I had AQ offsuit in MP, aggressive player two places before me, calling station after him and then me.

Aggro makes it 4xBB to go, station calls, I raise 6xmore. Aggro calls, station calls. I can't remember if anyone else was in the hand.

Flop comes 8 Q A

Aggro has AK
Station has A8

I'll leave what happened next in this extremely fun hand to your vivid imaginations ,)

The turn brought a fifth ace, giving you the nuts?

Posted Wed Aug 24, 2005 11:11 pm GMT by Tadzio
I'm guessing everyone checks

Turn: K

Then everyone's all-in.

River: 8

And the calling station wins it all with his brilliantly passive play.

That's some seriously negative mindset there. Shocked

I raised his weak flop bet to protect against the flush. I'd seen him make this same reraise with TP/flush draw several times and he could never let it go, so I reraised allin. It wasn't that bad a bet if he was trying to see where he was, but I suspect he was betting for value at that point. It was a great flop for me, needless to say.

Preflop: Hero is MP with A Diamond , J Club .
1 fold, Hero raises to $0.3, CO calls $0.30, 2 folds, BB calls $0.20.
