Overcard Calls in Loose Limit Games |

Overall, if you have a hand like AK in a limit game, and you miss the flop but have odds to call down to the turn and river (about 3.1-to-1 on the flop and 6.7-to-1 on the turn), should you almost always do it?
My argument for or against this would depend on the game. In a reasonably tight game where few players come in without the goods, and a total junk flop hits, I would usually draw to my overs if I'm getting the right price. In a loose game, however, I might not, because my overs might be poisoned.
For example, at my usual $3/$6 game, players will often call one bet with a hand like A 5 or K 7 . The problem here is that on the button I make it two bets, and they will easily call one more bet. Now the flop comes:
2 5 7
Normally that would be an OK flop for AK, but now I'm drawing to 4 outs, not 6, and if I hit my pair, either opponent will make two pair! True, it doesn't always happen, but I think it happens just enough in loose low limit games that calling on the flop with JUST overcards is not usually a good idea, unless I'm getting really good odds on my money to compensate for shared or poisoned overcards.

I hate these situations. You never know if someone is holding low pockets and is going to call down unless an ace hits.
Usually, with position, I'll bet the flop and if the turn is another rag, I'll check and take the free card.
Too many people play Ax or Kx and it always seems that if I fire all the way to the river they have paired their crap card.
I like being on the other end of this. Have a low pockets on a raggity flop like this, I'll call down most of the time unless I can surely put a guy on an overpair.
