Ok, this weekend I was at Greek Town Casino in Detroit. I love the casino but I hate video games and slots. I have not gotten the nerve to sit down at a Texas Holdem table yet. I plan to next time though. What are some tips you can over for my first time? How much should I take to start with? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

That really depends...
How familiar with the game are you? Have you played home games with your buddies, or just online a few times?
I wouldn't get in too deep to start with, but definately don't be afraid to sit down at the table. You should be safe buying in for 50 times the small blind.
Just play tight, don't lose your head and you'll do fine.

When you take the pot, (and I hope its a big one), let the dealer push it over... I spotted this tip on another forum whilst looking for answers to the same question.. Quite an interesting one I think?

A good thing to do is to take a free lesson from the casino. I'd played online for months, so I had a good understanding about playing hold em. When you decide to go for the casino, call em up and ask for a lesson. Might seem kinda' embarrassing... you'd think that people would see you as a beginner and prey on that. The instructor took me to a private room and it was just me and her. No one else was in the room.
She gave me some instructions, many of which I knew. Whatever questions you have, you should come prepared. He/she'll know. For example, should you call out your intention.... or should you say "Check, bet, raise, etc....
Should you leave the table for a bathroom break, what do you do?
Don't be surprised though if you find rude people on the table. They've been losing and they can be a bit bitter. It can be intimidating, but don't let it get to you. You'll find that at times sweet little grandma sittin' at the table will turn out to be a nasty one who'd run you over on the street... it can be no 'holds barred at the no fold 'em hold 'em tables.

another one: if you win a pot, hang on to those cards until dealer pushes the pot to you.
