I was wondering about the future of poker, specifically Texas Hold 'Em, due to it becoming more mainstream because of WSOP, WPT & even the Celebs getting into it... Do you think this will have a positive or negative effect on the game?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

This newfound exposure will be good for the game. Sure, you'll have your usual clueless nobodies who will now get involved, but that is just more money for you and me. In the meantime, as more people play, we should start seeing more Poker Rooms opening up, higher payouts etc etc. It's all good!!!:D

I wrote a long post about this . . . I think it will do mostly good but cause some problems, and also, more fish bring more sharks. . .
Here.

Haha, that would be me! It was the WSOP on ESPN that got me into it. And I'm gonna be fresh dead money at one of the Super Satellites for this year's WSOP. But at least I'm aware that I'm a "usual clueless nobody". I see a lot of "usual clueless nobodies" that blame any loss on the cards and really have no idea that they don't play very well. They really think they can play with the big boys.
And no matter how many books I read (I've read about 5 of them now), nothing can substitute for experience (which hopefully explains why I'm even going to this year's WSOP).

Everyone starts out as dead money. Some fish grow up to be sharks while others get eaten alive and find a different pond in which to swim. If you really love the game, understand it and get as many hours of experience in as possible, you could be the next shark. I didn't start playing holdem until last September. I now almost know more about poker than I do beer.......almost.
