I wanted to get some opinions here to find out if I am doing something wrong or not here. If you are delt a high card/ low card suited combo how do you play it?
I ran into this several times this weekend. I played 7 SNG tournaments this weekend. All in the $1-$2 range. Anyhow I ran into this situation several times where I would get hands like Axs or Kxs. I started playing these cards when I was in position or setting in the sb or BB. I found myself winning with them actually by hitting the flush.
If I got the Axs or Kxs I would try to limp in to see the flop. If the flop came out looking good for me, meaning I had at least 2 cards of my suit on it then I would wait for the bet to come to me. If it was BB sized and no one had raised it then I would limp or raise. Usually limp if allowed to. If the turn brought my suit then I knew I had the nut flush and was almost a guaranted winner (provided I did not see a chance for the full house or worse).
I found this card combo to be extremely effective when you can play them cheaply. There were several factors that would help me decide to play these combos or not.
1) Position was a key factor. I only played Axs or Kxs on the button, in the sb or in the BB. Never in early positions. Even though I had given it a thought once but I was not ready to give away free chips if things went bad for me.
2) No large pre-flop raises had occured before the betting got to me. If someone was doing an all in move or any bet larger then 2xBB then I laid it down.
Does anyone else play this hand combo? If so when and how? Am I maximizing the potential of this hand?

I will play them just as you described. Late position when I can see the flop for cheap. If I miss the flop, fold and don't look back. When they do hit you can usually do quite well.

Exactly. Don't get sucked in by hitting only the ace on the flop. You usually will need 2 pair if an ace hits.

Not much I can add really, except maybe mentioning that I like to consider the size of the field too.
I’ll usually favour Axs and Kxs more if I there are a lot of limpers since I’m more likely to get paid off and the hand strength can stand up to the greater competition.
