Hi all,
Have just registered on this forum. I have a question that I have been trying to find an answer for, but have had no luck so far.
Since I am a visually impaired person I haven't been able to play any of the online poker games, which me and many others want to do. However, all software seem to use only animations and no keyboard commands. I have been thinking about a program that could recognize these graphics and convert it into standard text. i have looked at some of the poker clients history and there are the cards shown in plain text. I think that some poker clients take it into a text file in realtime while the game is plaied. If a programmer or someone that would be interested in helping, feel free to post a reply. Since I have started to learn programming i dont know how to do it at this point. Any help or feedback is apreciated, many thanks!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

That's an intersting idea. I'm actually very motivated to work on this, it sounds like a good thought. I haven't done any coding for a while, but I'm assuming you mean something that displays the cards in plain text, like
YOUR HOLE CARDS:Ah Ad
THE BOARD: Ac Kc Qc
PLAYER 1 BETS 2.00
PLAYER 2 CALLS
...
etc?

Hi,
First, many thanks for your comment!
I have also written to many poker sites, but they are not interested or they just ignore it.
And about the cards, yes exactly! Since many of us use speech to hear the content of the screen it might be a good idea to have it say flop: nine of diamonds, seven of spades, etc. But that isn't very important since many screen readers have got dictionaries that can handle such info.
And also, the possibility to have the program make the mouse functions so that when we press f to fold, c to call, maybe r to raise, etc it will perform that mouse function. Let me know if you need any technical details and I can send it to you. Once again, many thanks for writing!
