How to get the best deals on rooms in Vegas

Posted Sat Sep 17, 2005 1:08 pm GMT by Jauron
Last year I went to Vegas, I got my room online (it was around super bowl time and the rooms where fairly cheap) but once I got there I heard the rooms were cheaper than the rate I was paying.

I plan to go again in late winter early spring, but I was wondering if anyone had good tips on how to get the best rates? I plan to stay a week again.

Any thoughts?

Where do you want to stay? It is easy to get a "rated" room for poker. 4 hours a day for weekdays and 6 hours on weekends. It is about 30-50% off.

In general, I like to book my room direct w/ the casino. They usually have packages availible w/ meal/drink credits and gaming benefits.

Occasionally a package will come cheap (right now Sun-Thurs at Imperial Palace w/ airfare for $240), but you almost have to get lucky to find a cheap one that fits.

I've been calling around recently in advance preparation for this summer. I specifically asked the Bellagio, Mirage, and Wynn their poker room rate (6 hours of play.

Bellagio was most expensive, then the Wynn, then the Mirage.

Bellagion was something like $169/night weekdays and $199/$299 weekends. They would check for availability of rooms during my stay to get the true weekend rate.

Wynn was $129 and $169 for weekdays and friday/sat I believe.

Mirage was $99 during the week and $139 on the weekends.

These are accurate to within a few bucks, I can look up the exact numbers but I'm too lazy now.

If you don't want to stay at the biggest hotels, as Dave said, places like Imperial Palace and the Station casinos offer a ton of value.

Well last year I stayed at the Excalibur and actually played mostly in their NL room (it isn't that bad, $100 NL tables and fish everywhere) I think it cost ~$800-900 for a week total, but that was for 2 people.

I wouldn't mind Luxor, but I hate their poker room.

BTW, I think I booked the rooms using Excalibur's site online last time.

as long as you dont mind slumming it......Imperial Palace and Orleans can be $50/night plus perks. IP is in a great location across from Bellagio and Mirage. Orleans has free shuttle to Barbary Coast.

Mirage is a good value for $100/night or under for players.

How often do they do that? For that, I could just wander around vegas for a few days gawping at shiny things.

If you dont need to go on a weekend, fairly often. Vegas is the #1 spot for people from MN, so lots of planes heading out there makes it a fairly cheap flight.

I do believe I would stab a hooker in the face for a rate like that from FL.
Shocked
