$50 NL

I open raise to $2 in middle position. Only the button calls.

Flop: 5 6 8 rainbow.

I bet 3 into pot of about 5. Button raises to 8. I re-raise to 20. He calls.

Turn 4

I lead out for 4 bucks. He doubles it. I fold.

betting $4 into into a $44 pot is very weak and the fact he doubles it doesnt give you much information.
I would have called for sure and checked the river to see if I can get a cheap/free showdown.

I am not sure what betting $4 on turn does, it certainly doesnt gain any extra info , dont think u done ureself any favors there at all.You want him to pass on turn when ure bet gives him over 10-1 on his money?

I don't get the flop three bet. If you're not comfortable playing for your whole stack (and clearly you aren't) just call his raise and re-evaluate the turn.

I'm trying to learn more about NL cash game, I suck so bear with me. Thanks for the advice so far.

I figured his cold-call to be a pocket pair that was either 99-QQ, or he hit a set. He raised me on the flop, I decided to test him for a big bet, about half my stack. If he calls, I figured he hit a set and was bent on taking my stack on the turn. Then my weak bet on the turn he min-raised? All signs (for my weak cash game mind) pointed to he wanted the money in the pot.

Do you think I should have pushed on the turn? Pushed on the flop? Can you dissect the hand for me a little more in depth?

I call the raise to 8 on the flop, then lead out another 8 to keep him one the defensive on the turn. But I'm aggressive :D

why would u lead out 4 dollars, ofcourse you were going to get re-raised... even if his hand was weak. i would of done the same thing. anyways i beliveve you should of went all in and try to take down the pot. i mean if u re-raised a re-raise then i expected you to have good hand or if you were going to bluff, you have to make it strong.
