Just wondering if there are other people out there that constantly lose with AJ.. I really hate that hand... e.g. yesterday I played my first MTT...1260 players (~4000 rebuys & addons at $5 each)... I didn't use any rebuys and made it until 230 players were left... close to the money... I was on the SB with AJ. I raised to steal the BB (blinds were 1000) and got re-raised.. Flop was J, 6, and some other small card... I bet.. BB had AA... so I was pretty much out of the race after that hand...
just one example of losing with AJ... happened several times by now... extremly frustrating...

first of all, what makes AJo even a good hand to play for a re-raise? usually a re-raise is big pckts so i would lay it down instantly unless it were suited then i might of seen a flop for a drawing hand. you have to understand that a lot of hands can take down AJ or have you dominated, so its not really worth as much as you think, it looks good but value of it drops when re-raised. anyways you didnt give the whole story... you didnt explain the turn and river and also the betting. so can't really help you much, but if all you wanted to know was you getting beat by AJo all the time, then i think i have proved my point.

No need for him to explain the turn and the river, he had top pair, top kicker and lost most of his chips to AA.
I like the raise from the SB, but when you get reraised sometimes you have to let it go. Not always mind you, if the bb showed a habit of defending with marginal hands, I'd consider reraising if you have the chips to do it. If he calls that or raises again, then you know you're in trouble. If he was a tight player, I'd probably just fold after his reraise.

I agree with you both.. I have read before that AJo gets overvalued a lot.. but I guess I had to learn it the hard way..
The problem I had with the reraise was that I already had a lot of chips on the table and figured if I fold it will be very hard to make it to the money short-stacked.. furthermore, I was hoping that BB just reraised me to check if I do have a good hand or if I'm just on a steal... didn't expect AA.. but yea, defenetly the worst decision I could have made.. will keep that in mind..
Unfortunately I didn't have enough chips to reraise... I guess I should have raised less from the SB and then folded to the reraise since I didn't have enough chips...
