why do I do this to myself... |

The only reason I called the pre-flop raise was in the hope I might catch some spades. Unluckily for me, and Ace flopped, and as hard as I tried to convince myself I was way behind, I showed it down anyway.
Am I the only person on here who will not listen to the little voice in their head that says, "Fold, you are BEAT!" By the way, everytime I hear that voice, it sounds just like Marcel Luske...

hmmm... if the only reason why you called in the first place was to catch 2 spades on the flush then play the hand for the reason why u played it. i know sometimes its hard to get away from the hand but if you know ur beat then fold the hand. if you think you are ahead then play through the hand and take it down. i myself gets into these situations too... i should stop drawing for hands. i think i lose more money trying to chase a hand than i do getting paid off hitting it. i need to learn how to fold small pckts when there isn't much money in the pot becuase chances are i will lose the money that i call with and when i do hit, i won't get paid off as much as i would.

If you play a weak Ace like that, at least raise on the flop. When he calls or re-raises, it's much easier to lay it down and might have saved you a ittle bit of money. If you raised $1.50 on the flop and then folded, you would have saved $2.50 rather than being a calling station. :D
Also, if he was just doing a continuation bet with a high pocket pair, you may find out you have the best hand. But without raising the flop, there is no way to find out.

Thats really weak play dude. Calling all way down, you had a chance to re raise several times to find out if you're hand was good and neglected it. By the river the board is so littered that even if you were ahead on the flop you re behind now lol.
Best advice to give in this situation is , dont call pre flop on hope of landing only a flush, you said yourself you kinda knew your kicker wouldnt be good so fold this one pre flop.
A10 is ok looking hand and wouldnt mind raising myself with it but not really a hand that looks strong when facing a raise.
Out of curiosity what did you have him on? The way he played it doesnt look like a bluff imo, especially the bet on the river.

If you know should lay it down you gotta do just that. At the low limits I know it is really hard to do at times but you don't want to get yourself into any bad habits.

raise the flop. take it away on another street.
but at this level, u played it fine. You'll probably be winning half the time there on the river.

That play is the definition of calling station. Not where you want to be.
