He said I was an idiot for calling. I felt like basically it came down to whether or not I thought he had the ace. I decided that the bet on the river after the check on the turn said he didnt want a call.
Was I way off base?

I don't know. I don't play those stakes, I don't play at UB, I wasn't playing at your table and I've never played agaisnt your oppoent. I suspect you weren't. You are however way off base for letting this moron's opinion effect you in any way. Just look at his flop call. Next time just think for a moment about where the "grief" is coming from. You'll feel better about yourself and your play.

LMAO. I asked him about that. He said that he never really planned on having a hand. He was planning on bluffing to win the hand before he even saw the flop. I thought that was kind of.... interesting.

Sounds like you made a good read.

He was the idiot who called on the flop with nothing, then made a failed bluff on the river. His betting pattern screamed "I have no ace," so why should you believe him? Good play I think.

I agree with Cutter. The betting pattern does say he had no A and definantly didn't have a duece. It isn't your fault you saw through him and called his bluff. Feel good about it and know the only reason he called you an idiot is because you out played his stupid a$$.
I would keep track of his screen name for future use. He sounds like the kind of person who puts off great tells through betting patterns.
