I saw it in a store the other day for $29.99us. Has a anybody played this on the PS2 or has anybody seen or heard about it. Its looks like you actually have a character and you have to build him up by winning tournaments and playing in card rooms. I'm thinking about buying it. I wondered if anybody had any thoughts.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Looks like a standard poker engine with a few game types and a career mode to try and extend its longevity. No idea if the AI is any good but it probably has some entertainment value.
Damn reviews make me shudder sometimes.

The card game itself as I say is luck because unlike the poker games we're used to, there is no discarding part of your hand for new cards. You play what it dealt. This is where strategy comes in. This is where the good players learn to bluff when they have nothing, and go "all-in" hoping that everyone else will fold.

A fantastic summation for the Cadillac of poker there

Damn. You were not lying about that crapy review. This guy has no freakin' clue.
I've seen a few other reviews and they were not very good on this game. To the contrary, I've seen early reviews on Stacked w/ Daniel Negreanu and they look positive. Maybe I'll hold off and wait until I see what else is coming out.

I've sen Maverick twice so I must be twice as good as that guy :D As for the actual game, maybe I'll rent it this weekend and see how good it is. Mind you, I have no delusions of it being able to help my game, but as far as console games go, it may end up being mildly entertaining.

I own Maverick on DVD ...wait... ...it was so sale in MVC, I was young.
As for WSOP I think it’s all about the feeling of accomplishment and entertainment. Anyone who plays WSOP as training for the real thing better pick up a copy of Tetris is case they want to become a bricklayer

Yeah. All I'm really looking for is something entertaining and fun to play w/ a decent level of difficulty, that is poker related. Hopefully a game where you can take a character and build him up as you progress through the game and buy stuff, maybe a storyline of some sort.
