What do you think?

I have a theory, I just want to see what you guys think about it. I think that if you are not consistently able to get a good read on a player, then chances are they are able to read you well, and vice versa. Usually when I am playing with people I can't read well, I try to mix up my play alot on the assumption that they can probably read me. What do you think?

Naws...Many players just wiz back and forth without rely having any particular 'I do that if situation X occurs' or having one or more basic strategies for their hands, often their mood will just change as the game goes on, and that will influence them more than anything else. It doesn't necessarily mean they have it any easier reading you back,

I think the two are independent. A correlation could be perceived sometimes I guess because a good player would be trying to read you while also varying play their own play.

But suppose I put someone on trips, I raise with my flush, they call and turn over middle pair. It’s illogical to now assume they must be reading me well because I never thought they’d only have middle pair. They might just be terrible.

I"ve never noticed any correlation...

There have been times where I have a good read on a guy, and he has a good reado n me.

There have been time where I have a good read on a guy, and he has a bad read on me.

And likewish when I have bad reads.

In a live game you should probably have a good read on at least a couple of people after a half an hour or so, if nothing else but loose/tight likes draws etc. Putting people on hands takes time or the person has to be very very preditable.

The old addage of if you can't spot the sucker at the table after X minutes, it's you does not apply to reading IMHO.
