i have rarely seen this hand mentioned or win many showdowns. Is it therefore a hand i be binning most of the time, espcially in early position whilst the blinds are low in a tournament and to any raise in LP?

i.e. Do you consider it to be one of these "trouble hands"?

short handed it is obviously a good hand preflop hand but in a full tournament table 6 players+ how do you play it.

You can almost never go wrong with folding this hand in non-shorthanded/lategame scenarios.

Yeah, I classify it as a trouble hand for people who don't know it's a trouble hand. Supafrey has it right (not that he needs my agreement).

KTs is not a hand to raise with in EP or MP. You can get away with it if it is folded to you in the SB, maybe the button, and MAYBE (depending on the players to your left) in the CU. However, I may limp in EP with a table that doesn't raise much.

One of the keys with hands like KT, KJ, AT, QJ, etc, is that you have to be able to get away from it with heavy resistance. It's possible you fold with the best hand, by why risk precious chips on a "maybe." When you get down to 3-4 players, KTs becomes a good hand that I would raise with often (except in certain cases).

Remember this: what hands do most players play? High cards. T is a good kicker, but when you take into account that people love playing high cards, then your T kicker is probably last at best.

Here's my suggestion. Fold it every time, and be content in the fact that at worst you're making a small mistake. Once you get better at the game and figure out why it may sometimes be good to play, play it.

I always bin this hand without hesitation.

Ah, to "put in the bin". I thought it was a typo for "winning" and had me confused for a little bit.

I think the others are right, except in certain special situations, it's a good one for the trash heap; especially early position, early tournament.

For example, Saturday I raised with K8 offsuit because it had folded around to me (button), so I knew I only had to get past one decent player (SB) and one weaker player (BB). Scooped up the blinds and ran away as fast as I could.

So, the opportunity will certainly present itself to play these kinds of hands, but I think supa's rule of thumb is right; at most, you're making a very small mistake, and it's an experience play.

In those cases where you do choose to play it, do not be afraid to dump it quickly.
