Preference: Bridge or Poker Size?

Posted Tue Oct 18, 2005 11:55 am GMT by Dat_Dude
I am just looking to get some opinions on what some of you prefer in your Cards. I have always played with Poker size cards in my home games, but they were always the paper ones you can buy at a casino and have recently purchased a few new decks.

I purchased:
COPAG - Poker Size
New KEM - Bridge Size
New KEM - Poker Size

I have only played two games since I have made these purchases and once used the Copags and the other time used the Poker Sized KEMs.

I am just curious what most of you prefer; brand and size and why.

Thanks for the input.

I prefer poker sized, but I can't give a good explanation to why. I don't have a particular brand preference really, but I'm thinking of ordering some Copaqs.

Always used old Kems, bridge size.

Now use Dal Negros bridge size. Nice feel, size a matter of preference, easier for some to shuffle.

Kems and Copags also good, can't go wrong with either.

I play with poker sized decks. I started out with Kems, then tried some Copags. All we use now are the Copags. Looking to get some of those Copag 4 color decks "Idaho" is selling on Ebay.

all casinos used bridge regular index for poker games. Poker sized is for Blackjack. Go figure

Bridge-size are easier to square-up after scrambling (aka "washing the deck") because of their higher aspect ratio. Also a bit easier to handle, esp. if you have small hands. Poker-size are supposed to be harder for "holdout artists" to hide. I think they also "fly" further when pitched, probably due to the larger surface area. I like the faster scrambles with bridge, and so use them exclusively in my home games.

I like bridge sized because it's what the casino's use and easier to handle.

at first I liked Poker size because thats what I was used to. But after going to the casino for a while I like the bridge size better.
