Best time to go to Foxwoods? |

I am new to poker ( have only been watching on TV, reading books and discussion groups) and am planning on making a trip to Foxwoods in a few weeks. I am quite nervous but reading previous posts on this subject has helped. I was wondering though, what would you recommend as a good time to go? Weekdays or weekends? Are the card rooms open all night? Being retired, I can go anytime- my thought was late at night (after midnight on a weekday) - Does this make sense? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Linda

My 2 cents....
I wish someone would have given me this advice. 1st time in a casino poker room go early on a Saturday morning...I mean 5:30 or 6:00 am. Explain that you're new to the dealer. Not many people there...most of them have been up all night and the reason they are there is that they've been winning. They will be in a good mood, even if tired, and most of them will be surprisingly helpful. Also...the really, really tough players have all gone home, and the guys still around will be quite sloppy in their play.
I'd say if you're cautious and well-read you've got a 2-1 chance of winning if you're out of there by noon.

There is an article over at thepokerforum.com that recommends going down at 3 am. It pretty much says the same things mindgame said. People are in a good mood because they've been winning all night (obviously if they have been losing they'll have called it a night already), but tired not and starting to make mistakes.

I just wanted to say that the above advice was right on target. I would recommend to anyone in this situation to go at about 5 am.
I couldn't sleep last Sat nite ( we have alot going on which is why I have not yet had the opportunity to go the casino) but being that I worked myself up so much about this and couldn't sleep- I headed down around 1am. Bought $100 in chips, later another $20 and lost it all around 8am.
It was quite busy when I got there at 1am- had to wait for a table- but got started at 1:30am. Even though I lost it all, I learned alot! What I'm reading is coming together- its true - nothing works like expereince. Looking forward to going again but I would recommend to a newbie to go down at around 5am. At this time, the place cleared out and everything got alot more lax. ( especially, you were able to walk around, find a table and just sit down). Players left were also very willing to "share their know-how" as several guys joined our table who had NO idea how to play "whats a blind??, etc". It seemed like everyone around them was very willing to give them the scoop and offer help as needed.
good luck out there
Linda
