This is the line I usually take with these TT,JJ,QQ hands that don't improve. I always call on the river here because I usually catch a lot of weird busted heart-draw bluffs/small pairs.

some sort of read would be nice, does he seem like he knows what he's doing? is he a donk? seems to me like if he's been beating you, he played it way too passively normally id say he should raise you on 5th if he doesn't think you have the ace, but thinks you've got a pair of jacks

anyways on your play ... i think it was fine, you may want to consider folding 6th cause this guy is just calling way too many bets for you to be ahead of him most of the time, if he has a heart in the hole he has about 25% chance to beat you that way, he can also hit his king to beat you, or trip up (im guessing he has a pair in the hole or he paired somewhere along the way) he may also have a straight draw / made straight

way too scary for a weak 1 pair hand ... be glad you were able to get this heads up though, lol

Ok, third street, I like the raise, since the Queen just limped in, and it's time to see where you're at. It seems highly unlikely anyone has you beat at the moment, so you have every reason to believe your Jacks are best.

Fourth Street, your opponent may have picked up a draw, or he may still have a folding like a low pair. However, you caught another scare card, the Ace, so you should definitely bet. He calls, which tells me he probably has some draw, or he has a low pair and is futilely hoping to improve. You still have 3 aces and 1 Jack to improve your hand, plus any other pair will probably give you a much better hand than his.

Fifth Street, he catches a bad card for you, an overcard to your Jacks. However, I still prefer to take the lead and bet to see where he's at. Any draw he may have had is unlikely to be helped by that King. But, he doesn't raise you, so the chance he has Kings or Kings-up is relatively low.

Sixth Street, I might now check, since he has caught another bad card for you, a third heart. I'll probably check-call here, since I have a chance to improve my hand on the river. It's not certain he has a flush or even a flush draw, and I'd hate to get raised here.

7th Street, you're correct to check, as a measely pair of Jacks isn't much to bet. I have no clue what this guy might have. His board has very little going for it, unless he was drawing for that middle straight or a backdoor flush, in which case don't be too upset, because he will eventually give away his money playing like this. It's also possible that he has two small pair he was hoping would hold up, but I don't understand why he would bet those here rather than take a showdown, which is what he would want. I don't see how he can bet with anything but a straight or flush, unless he's trying a river bluff. There's so much money in there now, though, that you might just want to look him up to see what kind of junk he plays.

should i hve kept raising this hand? he obviously had trip kings, but i didnt know if he had a better boat, did i play it ok or should i ahve been more aggressive with it?

Posted Wed Oct 26, 2005 2:03 am GMT by xDiamond_CutteRx
I'd prefer to be aggressive in this situation, because it's highly unlikely that he's made aces full of eights, since two other eights are out already. I put my money in and hope for the best, because you always want to get maximum value for a big hand like a full house. I'd raise on the river and then flat call if he re-raises.

Cap the turn and lead out the river, if he raises again then just call.

i want to point out that this hand is on crypto, and they allow unlimited raising when heads up, so there is no 'cap' on the turn .. he could've been 5-bet there actually

in the heat of the moment it may be hard to remember the other 2 8's being out, and usually you're not going to be remembering how many of your opponents non ace cards are dead, etc. with a weaker full house, it may be a better idea to check/call down
