2nd place in foxwoods tourney and a good night in 1-2 NL

I'm a regular at foxwoods playing the 1-2 NL, and finally had a really big 36 hours...

Got there at 9 pm wednesday, played the 1-2 NL loose as hell and finished up $1100 bucks. I wish I could remember all the hands played but it all happened so quick. So after playing for 10 1/2 hours, I played the 60 dollar tourney...

In the first 1 1/2 hours I doubled up a few times, once with jacks and then with aces, and got to the break with 6000 in chips (started with 1500). Played solid mostly, but went on my run with a big bluff...
Had 45 offsuit in late position, with blinds 300-600, and I had 8000 in chips. I raised it to 2400 to try to steal the blinds, but the button and then big blind called me, so i'm like oh dammit i'm screwed. But then, flop comes 4 4 10. I flopped a set and promplty almost peed my pants in joy. I checked it, the button went all in, BB called, and I jumped outta my seat and called. When they saw my four everyone shouted in shock, and I tripled up against the pocket Jacks of the guy on the button and AQ for the BB....
From then on i started pushing big time, stealing blinds and then I made another dumb move, calling an all in by two shorter stacks. One guy had AK, and other had pocket kings, while I had A3.
Flop A x x... Guess what came on the turn...

Yep... a 3. Knocked them both out....

Kept stealing blinds, then someone went all in the pcoket 9s against my pocket kings, took some more loot and went to the final table with 60,000 in chips, with the next player closest had 23,000
I didn't win, since a guy doubled up on me with broadway on the river against my kings, but with 4 players left and myself shortstacked i went all in with K4, and tripled up.

Knocked out the 3rd place guy with pocket jacks, and then ended up losing heads against the winner with his A6 against my A4, and the 6 kicker played.

won $1134

played a little more of the 1-2nl and finished it up late thursday night with a couple of more hundred bucks.

Overall after all expenses - walked in with $310 walked out with $2580

Great session, and I needed to talk about it. Peace everybody

How does the 1/2 NL at Foxwoods play? Typical pre-flop raise, how many donks per table vs. sharks you can expect to find on say a weekend night, things of that nature.

Interested in dabbling in the live NL games there, just getting sick of limit, even if they have some of the juiciest 4/8 tables around. Smile

Well I usually play during the week cause its a madhouse on the weekends, but I can tell you that there are usually at least 2 - 3 people at the table that have little or no clue, and the rest are usually decent players, varying from loose to really tight. You generally don't see that many "sharks" at the table, cause most of the really really good players don't play alot of 1-2NL. But I can say on average there's usually one really good player per table, sometimes two.

The preflop raises usually go anywhere from 10 - 25 bucks, and you will see some people messing around and raising it 5 bucks up to seven, and these are with good starting hands and medium pocket pairs. Often times people with the premium pocket pairs go up higher, but most will still keep it in the 25-30 dollar range.

This is all during the week keep in mind...but from what I know on the weekends there are TONS of fish, so if you can deal with the wait and some bad beats you can make alot of money if you're a decent player.

If your patient and have enough of a bank roll there is alot of money to be won, and when you get up I suggest losening up and trying to limp and catch cause people often times play really bad hands anyway. If you know what you're doing, once you get over about 500 chips you can really turn up the heat and turn it into 1500, as long as you take good chances.

Good luck...
