If it's a new table then no, unless you have bad eyesight in which case an end is probably not the best if you can't see clearly to the guy at the other end of the table.

If it's an already established table, I would avoid being on the right of any maniacs with lots of chips. You don't want to find yourself being raised every time you try to limp in, it can get very waring. In the end, it doesn't really matter where you sit but maniacs are best to avoid if possible...........

If the deal rotates, and you're playing on a long hold'em table, it's easier to deal if you're in the middle of one of the long sides.

If there's a dedicated dealer, it's best to not to be directly next to him, to prevent him from mucking your hand accidentally.

Otherwise, as Geno said, you want aggressive players to your right and passive players to your left.
