Ok, I admit I was a bad boy and skipped out on my classes today, but overall I think it worked out...
I went up to the 21+ casino near my place for the first time and sat down to play some $1/$2 NL with the max buy-in, $200. I was having a good run, taking down some decent pots with AK and AQ in my first two hands. About a round later, I limped in with 88, and flopped K-8-2! Big blind bet about $20, and EP called the bet. With two people already thinking of staying in the pot and two more to act, I decided to smooth call and raise either on the turn or the river. Button decides to raise it up to $50. The first two players fold! Well, now that it's heads up in a big pot, I decide just to shove in my chips, since I'm pretty sure I have this guy; and hey, if I took it down there, it's a decent pot. He calls and turns over KQ. Turn and river give him no help. As he relunctantly shoves his chips into the middle and pulls out a couple more Benjamins, he remarks, "couldn't have played it any other way." Well, I disagree with the guy, but I'll take the money any way it comes.
About an hour later, I'm up to about $550 in chips, and then it happens. I get dealt 99 on the button. One guy raises it up to $10, so I decide to call and take a flop. Flop came 9-3-2 with two diamonds, and without missing a beat, the guy decides to go all-in for $675! With top set, I go ahead and call, and he turns over AK . Turn was a , but then the river came up with a 2 so I scopped over a grand with nines full!!! Of course, the guy then decides to whine about taking a bad beat and stomps off with his $125 or so.
Then, as fate would have it, my friend calls me up on the phone and tells me there's a real great $10/$20 going on at the card room across town. Now, I don't usually play stakes as high as $10/$20, but I'd come into a decent sum of money (basically doubling my bankroll in a few hours), so I decided to give it a try since my friend told me it was especially soft. Well, he was right... these guys just could not play. They would chase and chase and chase, but if they didn't have much on the river, they would decide to fold. Oh boy I had sat down with $500, and after about 3 hours, my friend and I decided to go grab a bite, with me cashing out for $960 and my friend making off with a cool $1500.
My friend decided to go celebrate at the bar, but I was ready to come home, so I got back to the apartment and proceeded to treat my girlfriend to a nice dinner. When I pulled out my ill-gotten gains, her comment was, "you didn't go to class today, did you?"
Ever have one of those days where everything is just going right and you feel like you're playing on another level? Well, today was one of those days for me, and I couldn't feel better. 8)

Damn, I sure wish there was a place for NL cash games around here. I'd love to take $100-$200 and go play some NL live. Only NL we got is tourneys.

The guy makes it sound like he had Kings verses Aces pre-flop.
