I watched a friend play a Horse Tourney last night on Full Tilt. They don't have cash games though.

A few months ago someone posted about a private HORSE tournament on FullTilt, ten dollar buyin, I think thursday nights at 8, but I could be wrong. You could search the forums for the password since I can't remember for the life of me, but it's around somewhere. Pretty fun stuff, HORSE, though I thought it was regular omaha and not hi/lo, but on FullTilt it's hi/lo.

Hold'em (Limit)
Omaha Hi/Lo
Razz
SStud
Eight-or-better Stud

I love HORSE, but most of the folks I play with are too chicken to play anything but Hold'em. I think HORSE is a great test of overall Poker skill.

I agree. I know there are some players who think the main event at the WSOP should be HORSE.

I love horse. I never play it online as I did not know of any sites that offered it. I have played it in home games before. Fun way to play poker.

I've just started hearing about it and it sounds fun. I love all types of poker so it sounds like a blast. I have a strong feeling i'll be mentioning it at my next home game.

Only question is about Eight or better stud, is that like Jacks or better in 5 card draw?

I believe it is Stud Hi/Lo.

No, its a bit different.

Eight or better means once you have all seven cards, to qualify for a low hand, you must have 5 cards of eight or better that are unpaired (A2345 being the nut low, 86542, etc.). You can play a different 5 cards for low and a different 5 cards for high.

do you just rotate the games every hand or something?

I think they were rotating games every 10 minutes.

I still don't understand hi/lo games Embarassed

This would win hi and lo right provided no1 had a boat because you can use the nut flush for the hi and wheel for the lo?

A Heart 2 Heart 3 Heart 4 Spade 5 Club K Heart Q Heart

yes

oh and the best low goes from hight to low hand so
75432 beats 7632A

Posted Wed Nov 02, 2005 8:16 pm GMT by supafrey
to add to the confusion, lowball games (2-7) are completely different.

Yes - And if you didn't have the flush, the straight could play for high.

Omaha gets a little tricker as You have to play 2 of the 4 cards in your hand for low & 3 from the board. Same goes for high. You see beginners with a board like K K J J 2 - They have a K in their hand and think they have a boat, but you HAVE To play 2 cards from your hand. So you would need KJ or J2 or 22 or K2 to have a boat. Same rules as the low stud - The low hand has to be eight or better to qualify for low. Sometimes Omaha is played High only - As I think it is in HORSE.

I've just started playing stud hi/lo and omaha... they are a real nice change of pace. I'm starting to get the hang of them.
