Top Pair, Flush Draw hand...

Posted Wed Nov 02, 2005 12:31 am GMT by zinn0
Playing on fulltilt, high stakes .10/.25.

Hero-$25
Villian-$17

Hero gets dealt K7 Heart in the SB. One limper, so I complete my blind, and the BB checks.

Flop: 2 Heart K Club 9 Heart

I lead out with a pot size bet (0.75). Villian raises to 2.00. I figure him for a king, but not a strong king since he just checked his blind. Original limper folds, and I re-raise to 5.00 thinking if I'm not ahead, I'm probably even money to win the hand at the least. Well, villian pushes...I'm curious as to what the NL crowd does now? I'll post what happened next later.

edit-I forgot to put in the suits--sorry for the confusion.

I bet he has 2-pair, maybe a set.

Easy easy fold.

You did not state any description of the opponent so I'm assuming an unknown average $25 NL player. No suits are stated so I'm assuming a rainbow board - so there are no real straight or flush draws. Most players here are pretty passive unless they have something, and most players don't bluff on complete air very often. High chance he has you drawing to very few outs.

Also another note. I would either fold to his raise or call the raise and check/fold the turn unimproved. I think the reraise is spewing a bit.

Note the title of the thread.... So I'm assuming you have flush draw also. I call.

I actually think you are ahead here.

On the off chance that he has 2 9, you are still 50/50.

On a side note, since you are playing on full tilt, you should save your hand history to your C drive - makes it a lot easier to analyze these hands if we see the suits, etc.

Sorry about the mix-up guys...I posted this in the online forum first, then decided to delete it and repost it here. I forgot to put the suits in the new post. Also, the villain in this hand had been very, very passive up until now.

Well, if you think you're even money, then clearly you should call :D

Since he just checked his blind, it's not easy to figure what he has. It could be anything. K9, K2 come to mind but he could also have a weak Ace but better flush draw than you. Something like A9-A2 Heart . Or he could even have something like JT Heart and is betting his flush and straight draw. I don't see you being very far behind many hands, but way ahead of some others. I'd most likely call.

But instead of putting myself in that position, I think I would have just called his flop raise and see the turn card for an extra $1.25.

Well, I called his all-in. I was right when I thought he had a weak King. The problem was, his weak king became VERY strong after the flop. He rolled over K2o. It turns out I didn't need that next heart though, as the turn brought the 7 Spade and put me in a dominating position. The river brought the final king to fill up my stronger boat.

Duly noted, and taken care of. I was wondering why I couldn't request hand histories like on PS. Now I know why.

Cool - They just added it a few months ago - It's a nice feature!

Nice call - He did have one of the best hands he could have had & u still had a ton of outs..... Easy call. :D

call.

at worst, against a set you are a 70:30 dog. pot is laying you 22:12.

I like to usually just call against a weak-tight player who hasn't been playing back much. Your inbetween raise is bad, if he calls you are left on an island if the turn blanks and if the draw comes in, you won't be getting his stack as he'll fold.

I'd be very happy if villain showed up KQo, K2 or AA here as it will be close to a 55:45 dog or a slight favorite.

Yeah I call, but as Howzit stated, no need to reraise in this spot out of position. You like your hand and your draw, but the reraise doesn't do much for you in this spot. Call it, and see what happens on the turn.
