I've been running into more and more people buying in for the minimum on Hold'em tables and then pushing all-in on any draw. Is there any way to defend against this? Twice in the past HOUR this bozo has done shit like this to me. Last time he pushed with middle pair and a flush draw.
Forget ykculnu, it's BEACH990 I'm refering to. He's done this TWICE to me tonight.

In his defense, he did have a pair of nines with his draw.

You can't defend against it. I personally love the short stacks... They have to win 3 heads up coin flips before they can do any damage.... They usually just bust out.

True. Unfortunatly, the ones I've been having to contend with lately buy in for something like 1/4 the max. If they lose, they re-buy. If they win and double (sometimes even triple or quadruple up), they leave the table, move to another one, and buy-in again for close to the min.
...sorry I guess I'm just having to vent.

Take their measley stack.
If you know a player does this often or you see them buy in for the minimum, expect this type of play and get your money in with the best of it and hope they don't get lucky. If they do, well, that's poker. Make a note on them and know that eventually they'll return your money.

A shortstack offers no implied odds, so you never play hands that are likely behind and will need to hit big, or needs your opponent's stack to offer implied odds.
Iow. no small suited connectors, small pairs or funky hands (7-4o qualifies).
Anything good which is likely ahead preflop you jam.
Other than that you hit the pedal when you are likely ahead. If you call on a draw against a shortstack you need perfect pot odds, again since they offer no real implied odds.

Some handy threads recently :D
Dealing with short stacked opponents and completing the small blind are both questions I’ve been meaning to ask about myself.
