Preflop: hero is in the SB with A Diamond A Spade . Folded to CO who raises, hero 3-bets, BB comes along for the ride, CO calls.

Flop: (7 small bets) 5Diamond 8Spade JSpade . Hero bets, BB folds, CO calls.

Turn: (4 big bets) AClub . Hero checks, CO bets, hero raises, CO calls. (damn, that was sexy)

River: (7.75 big bets) 9 Heart. Hero bets, CO raises, Hero 3-bets, CO caps, hero calls.

CO wins 15.5 big bets w/ QClub TClub.

I was the CO (hehe).

Seen this one just last weekend at a 20/40 FL table!! I think the other guy had two pair or the low end of the straight, and the one guy kept betting and calling 1 raise with a gutshot straight draw. It was sick to see the guy drag the pot down. - Was watching other tables for a while after I finished playing.

In the CO's defense, he had what Mike Sexton would call "a double belly buster" on the turn.

Q: Why the raise with QJs and the flop call? I'm not critizising, but I was just wondering about the thinking behind it.

It's folded to me in the CO. QTs has equity vs a random hand, which is what I'm up against at this point. It's also pretty easy to play post flop and I've got position. If there was a limper with a VPIP < 50% I fold preflop everytime. When it's folded to me in the CO or on the button I raise a ton of stuff. Granted, if I'm at a table where it's often folded to the CO or button I usually leave pretty quick.

Whether I like it or not, I gotta call the flop. I'm getting 8+(4 to 6):1 I'll be able to take 4-6 small bets off him on the turn and river if I hit on the turn. And I'm closing the action. That's 12:1 at worst. My draw is 11:1. And there's an outside chance the Q and T are outs.

I'm not nuts about the turn bet in retrospect and that's what made the hand so donk like. But after he checks, I think he's got a mid PP or some random garbage he's ready to give up with often enough. If my hand had any showdown value I would not have bet the turn. And an A is a great scare card. Keep in mind there's 4 big bets in there. I'm investing 1, and even if called by a better hand will have a return of .4 big bets. So if called the turn semi-bluff only costs .6 BB, so it will only have to pick the pot up 15% of the time to be profitable. Unless there's a chance that he c/r me. Rolling Eyes If you factor in a 30% chance of getting c/r'ed the semi-bluff will have to work 20% of the time to be profitable. Remember, I have the equivalant of an open ended straight draw on the turn. Given that I had helped myself to their blinds twice with little resistance in the past three go-rounds I don't think he's folding enough, but I had three tables going at the time and didn't think about this.

After I got c/r'ed I realized that I had been pwned. But same as the flop, I'm getting great numbers so I've got to call whether I like it or not.

The river plays itself.

There's my justification of the donkest hand ever.

Ah...I misread the preflop action, my bad Smile

I see things more clearly now. I agree on the turn bet too, and even if he C/R's us here, a double gutter got excellent implied odds if it hits, even more so against a hand strong enough to C/R us I think. I would be surprised if 'hero' realized he was beat before showdown here. Smile
