I'm currious how the casino's handle chips in a $25-$50 game. Do they use TWO different kinds of chips at the table in order to allow folks to post the small blind (which I'm guessing is $10) or do they use an odd chip denomination (like 12.5 or something)?
Thanks for the info!

$25 chips w/ some $5s in play. Blinds $15/25 is typical, depending on where you play. 15/30 had blinds of 10/15 in some places too.

thanks dave. i was currious about that... at the low levels i've played it seemed like the casinos always tried to keep just one chip in play (e.g. on a 3/6 it was one dollar chips only).
thanks for the clarification! now i can properly plan my 25/50 (cent LOL) home game.

Just out of curiousity what would the rake be for a game like this?

At Canterbury, the rake remains 8 (or 10)% with a $4 cap. 2/4 or 15/30. So the rake is minimal.
I could be wrong, but I think they dont even rake the 30/60 game.
I know that for 15/30 or 30/60 they dont take $1 for the bad beat jackpot and those tables cannot win the jackpot.

i have never seen 25/50 spread in a casino.
mid limits usually start from 15/30, 20/40, 30/60. no 25/50.

simply because of chips (i have more of a trny set than a cash game set) we ended up dong 20/40 (cent... LOL) anyway and i just threw in a couple odd chips for ppl to use for the small blinds.
7.5g super diamonds are now 3cents a pop... so once i have some cash again i might just buy a couple thousand of those so i can run a proper cash game. as it was this time around i just had to mix all of my chips and say they were all the same denom regardless of color. it worked... but it bugged me. LOL

Some casinos, like Turningstone, charge time for higher limit games. For example, at the 20-40 table you pay 7 dollars per half hour of play. There is no rake. The per half hour charge goes up with the limit. I prefer this to the rake myself.
