Hi, I am playing online and have a question about a hand. If the flop, turn and river are all suited with the Ace coming on the turn does it even matter what everyone has in their hand? Wouldn't everyone still involved in the hand all have an Ace high flush and split the pot? Thank you very much....Lori

This is probably the most common question for beginning players. Yes, all five cards matter for a flush. Not just the first one. If the board shows 5 cards of the same suit and another player has a high card of the same suit in his hand.. they will win. For example.
The board is:
2 4 6 K A
Hand 1 is:
10 5
Hand 2 is:
J 5
Hand 2 would be the winner.

Make the best 5 card hand that you can. All five cards count. Check here for more information about kickers or here for more info about hand rankings.
Welcome to the forums

Sooooo I'm assuming that the higher "kicker" or in this case the higher card of the same suit would win? Everytime I've been in on a hand like this online and the other person has say 10 J and I have J K and the community cards are say 2 5 A 9 K then it would say that we both had an Ace high flush and split the pot. Of course I have been playing on a very well known poker site and I guess they could be wrong. I just wanted to make sure for our poker games at home. Thanks alot!!!!

lol, I really doubt the site splits the pot right there.
more likely, your memory is off.

i seriously doubt that any site playing texas holdem would've split that pot....i'm guessing that this situation is more likely:
board:
A Q J T 9
player 1:
7 J
player2:
3 7
that would split cuz yer both playing the board flush and neither the 7 nor the 3 make the flush any higher....it might say you both have an Ace high flush, but it should never split this pot....this is a basic tenant of hand rankings in poker
now if you could get a screenshot....that would be extra special

If you could actually read, you would see lori thought the site split the pot. I responded with "That's probably incorrect" and so did Sid.
Now go get banned from other forums for spamming, rofl

I think if the pot was split in the hands suggested then there would have complaints to the site, unless the players were complete novices and only used to playing snap. :D
I always thought it was 'Make the best 5 card poker hand from the 7 cards available. 5 community cards and the 2 that you hold.
