I'm wondering what everyone else does in this situation? With 4 's showing, I was scared to death, and from that point on I just wanted to get to showdown as cheap as possible.

Here is one more hand while I'm at it. The guy was showing trip fives, and he was betting them as well. I made my draw on 6th and wanted to know where I was at, so I raised him. Smooth call from lisego. Should I be terrified or happy in this situation? I almost laid it down on the river, but listened to my gut and called. I just didn't think he had the boat.

Also, what is considered 'winning' 7CS? I've read here for HE games that 1BB/100 is a decent rate...does that apply to this game as well?

1) Why no bet on 6th street?
2) I think you played this hand well.

The guy had too many scare cards showing on his board. 4 hearts and a straight possiblity.

By 6th street, there were 5 dead hearts, which means he needed to have one of 4 of the remaining hearts in the hole. I'm willing to call that first one down. You did well getting a cheap showdown.
Second hand looks fine. Seems like a real loose game, so I like the double bet on 4th since you have plenty of cards left to help you (although your straight possibility is somewhat dead). With all those players in the pot, you're getting the odds to chase a bit. In the future, if you blank on fifth and your opponents seem to improve, check/fold it.
Oh wait .... just saw the trip 5s, lol. Ummm, DONT raise against trips showing. You are beating it now, but you're not a big enough favorite here to raise it. Check/call for a cheap showdown.

Oh yeah, and to answer your question about being a winning stud player, I think at 'lower' limits, winrates of 2 - 5 BB/100 are very attainable, much more easily so than in limit hold'em.
Right now on record of my 1/2 Stud @ UB I'm at 9 BB/100 over 500 hands (extremely small sample ... but I think I could keep that at about 5), and at 3/6 stud I'm at 2.5/100 over 1400 hands, another small sample but I'd probably actually be higher if I started to record earlier.
Keep plugging at it ... I'm sure it'll come to you
