Im fairly new to poker ive been playing alittle over a year. during my first 2-3 months i relied on luck to win and very rarley actually playing. but now i ran out of "luck" and i have been trying to learn strategys to play like slow playing, overbetting, check raising and so on. but i always now do really good early in games but i have been having trouble getting into the money. Any suggestions on how i could improve my game? thx
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

The number one, most import thing you can do is buy books. Lots of books. Read read read. Dan Harrington's book about tournament play is especially good.

Ddawg,
Soup is right. Read all you can on poker. Look at online poker resources as well, like this forum. In the tournament poker section is an excellent bit written by The Salche (That guy who wears pink shirts). Find it and read it. That might be a big help.
The best system or strategy is to play tight and then loosen up as the blinds increase and the number of players decreases.
