Questions for Paulson Owners

Posted Thu Dec 01, 2005 3:59 pm GMT by Dat_Dude
Hey all. I am seriously considering springing for a big set of the James Bonds by Paulson. I have been using the standard dice chips for a while now and ready for an upgrade.

People that own them, I assume you like them and would recommend them? Did you bother to oil them? After a lot of use, how do they look/feel?

I went to chiptalk and read what the reviewer had to say, but I wanted to get opinions from the "Oh So Wise" peeps of TH-P. 8)

Thanks.

I dont own a set but ive used them and you will be happy with your purchase if you get them. Its like going from a 1989 rusted Ford Tempo to a brand new BMW.

I currently own 1670 of them and I absolutely love them. Nothing beats a paulson. I did not oil them, and do not feel they need oiled. However, it might help with the color shedding they do when they are first new. You will notice that the colors of each chip will rub off on each other a bit. Nothing serious and nothing that isn't easily cleaned, if you so desire. They break in very well and look very good after some use. As long as you play on a clean surface, they will last you a lifetime.

Thanks Justin. What do you use to clean those puppies with? Damp, soapy cloth?

That is a lot of Paulson's! Did you do a group buy? I am looking at a 650 set for now and increasing it in the future.

If you don't mind, where did you buy most of yours from and how much did you spend on each chip? I assume it was about $.95-$1.25 per, but I thought I would ask.

I ordered a sample set and the sound alone about made me get out the credit card and sign them up.

All Paulson chips tend to feel pretty similar. I've had a set of hot stamped TH&C unspotted chips for close to 25 years and there has never been any thought to even considering oiling them. That seems to have popped up recently in one or more of the forum sites. There really isn't any real reason to oil them unless you're preparing them for a photo shoot or something where you want the chip to shine. Insofar as cleaning the chips, there shouldn't be much need to do that either, usually a damp rag is fine for those Ooops occasions when something gets spilled on them. It's not like casino chips (which also are obviously not cleaned Smile ) where you might want to get some of the grime off of the chip.

No just building over time. Anyway I just use a damp cloth if I need to clean them. Also, www.apachepokerchips.com seems to have the best deal on them consistently. I think they come in right around 95 cents a chip. That is where I have been getting my JBs from. Every now and again someone will have a sale on them but like I said, apache is consistent and reliable.
