Not trying to be an a$$, but neither of these are technically bad beats. The first one, you were an underdog the whole time and it just happened that the worst possible flop hit. You played it right, you just have to pay off his boat. It happens.
Second one: That hand was all yours if you had played it more aggressively. You were the initial raiser, so a decent sized continuation bet on the flop may have chased out the ATo and also earned you a free card on the turn since I doubt the guy with 45o would have bet when that Q hit. Then you would have hit your Ace and taken down the pot as the straight draws missed.
Just my $.02

if those hands make you want to "put a bullet in your head" then i suggest you quit playing poker before someone alctually does get hurt.

I know these aren't technically bat beats, but I thought I could vent about them here without hearing shit about them from the pros.
Guess not.

Don't let 'em get you down. The pros are just saying that yeah, sometimes you lose at poker...it happens. Keeping your cool is one of the most important things in poker. Sure they weren't bad beats, but yeah, they kind of sucked. Just keep your cool and give over your chips with a smile and say "Nice hand". Your opponents' bone-headed plays will just pay you off in the long run.
You can't let what would have happened affect your play. That's why rabbit hunting can be so dangerous. Sure, you would have won the hand in the second example, had to stayed in, but that doesn't necessarily make your fold the wrong move.

I didn't mean to come off the way I supposedly did. I was basically saying that the first hand was out of your control. You played it right and should make that play any day of the week. In this case, like I said, it was nearly the best possible flop for your opponent and you just have to pay him off.
The second hand I was merely offering advice by saying if you had just bet that flop, you may have ended up winning that hand.

I just noticed on the second hand you only raised to 1.60 when the blinds are .50. Maybe next time put in a bigger raise and you wont get so many callers.

1.50 was the typical opening raise at the table, and that's the first time there were that many callers in my 45 minutes at the table. Most flops were two or three handed. Perhaps in hindsight I should have raised more with AK. I would typically make a continuation bet with AK and a ragged flop, but with that many callers I figured they couldn't ALL have high cards and someone probably hit the flop. Maybe a bet would have gotten me one caller and if a scare card came on the turn I could make a steal, but I don't know.
And I wasn't bitching about the 99 vs. AJ thing, its just like, you finally hit a strong hand and the guy is holding the one hand he could possibly have that beats you.
I made back all that I lost yesterday, so all is well I guess.

If you just want to vent about some hands, i certainly have no problem with it. Just say so at the beginning of your post and nobody will give you any flak about it.
