rockets beaten twice in a row

First hand i raise and one guy calls and another reraises. I call and the other guy folds. So i have ace/ace one on one. The flop is King/3/4. I probably should of raised again but the king scared me as i thought he might have kings in the pocket. So i just check as does he. A 2 comes on the turn and the river is a 6 I get beaten by ace/5 off suit

Yeah I think you said it yourself. You shouldn't have given him the chance to make that straight. A big raise after the flop would have probably made him fold. Or if he had a K he might have called and been really hurt.

the real problem is that you should have reraised the reraiser preflop. when i have aces and i get reraised i like to put as much in as soon as possible because if he has a pocket pair you're a huge favorite before the flop. just get it in there, don't be calling. and you gotta bet almost every flop with them, you cant just check it down every time a king flops. thats a great card for you, if he reraised he's likely to have ak in which case you get paid off on that board.

that's NOT a bad beat, your wussiness did you in.

FatJoe is spot on, why didn't you stick it all in when you were reraised?

i agree as well. AA is a hand you go all-in pre-flop with so the guy doesn't have a chance to catch on the river. by only calling, you gave him an out. you want to put him to a decision for all of his chips. i know it's a cliche, but it also true. when you only called, instead of making him go all in to see a flop when you had the best possible pre-flop hand, you let him see one for only the amount of his raise.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

You can analyze your play all day, but unless you can get your opponent to fold, the rockets are still vulnerable.

Believe or not just winning blinds is not the best way to play rockets. You want to try and isolate and trap a single opponent. Will your rockets get beaten more often playing like this yep but you will also win more money long term.

Notice that I said the hand is vulnerable. I've used the rockets to take very nice pots, but the fewer in the hand prior to the flop the better your odds are of making the rockets pay off for you. I'm not saying try to steal the blinds with them all the time. I'm saying that if there are still opponents in the hand the rockets are vulnerable. If you completely miss the flop, there is a big chance that they will not hold up for you. Just a clarification.

i agree. get all those people on a semi-longshot draw out of there and make those that stay in (hopefully only one or two) pay through the nose to see a flop so you can strike a balance between maximizing the pot value and maximizing the strength of your aces.

I agree with Tony. You're not going to win all the time, but make the people with inferior hands pay to see the flop.

If they all fold, fine, take the blinds. If some come in, great; but you've got to be ready to fold the rockets when they show they hit.

The combination of forcing people out (so there will be fewer hands drawing, and presumably less often that people will hit the flop) and the times you hit seems like it will be profitable in the long run.
